Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Great Course, Horrible Members/Staff
If you are looking for a great round of golf to get ruined by the uptight, rude, belittling members, look no further! Seeing other reviews complaining about how the members will be allowed to play with 5-6 people and are stood up for when they mock and belittle players should have made me not want to play here, but still took the chance. A nice golf day simply ruined by the members that want to play cop on the course and run to daddy when someone tells them to stop hitting into us, mocking us, etc.
Great course
I love playing Mayfair, they have done a really great job with maintaining the course! Keep up the great work!
All of the bad reviews are correct :(
Unfortunately, all of the bad reviews about fivesomes and bad management is correct. This is a historic course with a decent layout, but the terrible management and other players are horrendous and make this one of the, if not the, worst courses in central Florida.
The course is in fair condition at best. The greens roll ok, but there areb be unrepaired divot craters and dragged cleat marks all over them. There is standing water throughout the course and the fairways are pure mud on 60% of the holes.
This is sad because I grew up playing this course and have fond memories of it from 15+ years ago.
At this point, I can’t think of a reason to play this course compared to all of the better options available in Seminole county and centra Florida.
Disappointed
There was no water in either the male or female restrooms
Slooooow
We got stuck behind a very slow foursome. It was painful at tines jumped them on the ninth. Fell into another slow group, not as aliw as the first but none the less. Tee boxes were not well sodded, course still needs some work. We took a break hoping things were better. We’ll take another break. $3) was a little steep for the conditions. We’ll keep an eye out hoping things will get better.
Good day
Had a great time. shot, a good score and was happy when I left.
Golf on 10-22
I enjoy playing at Mayfair. The course is pretty wide open which fits to my game.
I was never really a fan of this course however there was time the facilities and course was better maintained. The greens did roll true but they certainly have a problem cutting all the pin placements around the same area. The fairways were green but very bumpy in many areas. For myself I would probably play elsewhere.
New adventure
Greens were really fast. It was a bit confusing to find the holes as no markers set up. Fun day!
Fun course for the money
Enjoyable, although it gets a bit crowded from time to time. Course conditions could def be better but the greens are good.
Slow frustrating round
This is an older course but an enjoyable layout. Maintenance over the past few years has improved greatly Unfortunately, the management has decided to allow large groups to routinely play together on weekends. As the course is 10 minutes from my home I've played it 3 times in the past 6 weeks. On every round we encountered problems with large groups ahead of us. We have seen 5 somes, 6 soms, and this past weekend an 8 some in front of us. although we were a 2 some they did not let us play thru and there is no ranger on the course. Although convenient I won't be playing there again any time soon..
Mayfair Country Club Golf
It was an average round of golf. It has rained a lot lately here and many of the holes had major water standing on the fareways. Not fun.
Curious Play decision by management
Tee off time of 730 am on a Sunday
They allowed a fivesome to go off two groups ahead of us. Golfers were of a “C” level of player. When the front desk as called via cellphone, we were told they allow fivesomes, as long as they “keep up”. Common sense would tell you that if you are getting a call, they probably are not keeping up. Their normal skins game was going on, I wondered if maybe Sunday morning is a bad time to play unless your in their Skins game. I live 5 minutes from this course and prefer to play anywhere else. The other three in my group had made the tee time and don’t plan on returning.
