Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Excellent Greens
If you’re looking for fast undulating greens, this course is for you. Haven’t play Mayfair in a few years, I was pleasantly surprised at how good in the putting greens were. The course still needs work, but it’s all about the putting isn’t it?
Happy New Year!
Decided to say farewell to 2020 and spend NYE with my 5 year old at Mayfair. Staff was super friendly and even went out of the way to give us some background on the course.
Greens are in good condition for the price. There was a scramble happening and it was a holiday, so pace was reaaaallllly slow.
Loved the layout. Tons of trees. Great doglegs. Par 3s are unique. Gorgeous. We'll be back.
Nice Course. Good value.
First time playing Mayfair. Thought the course was in decent condition. Greens a little beat up, but not horrible. Took my kid and really enjoyed it. Staff was super courteous and even shared some background on the course.
Went on NYE, so pace was expectedly slow. Laid back vibe overall. Don’t take yourself too seriously and you’ll have a great time.
Okay
Grass on fairways was tight. Some greens were in bad condition; others were very nice. For the price not a bad course.
Slowest pace i’ve ever witnessed
Spent the whole time waiting. We averaged 25 mins per hole... very pretty course with a decent layout but golf shouldn't take 6 hours
Slow
We teed off as a twosome and by the 3rd tee were ready to pull our hair out. We waited probably 15 minutes for the foursome ahead of us to get out of range after their tee shots, or so we thought. The tee shot will go over a hill. I hit mine to the top of the hill, right down the middle, but it landed in a strip of dirt which caused an explosion of dirt. The ball would have normally rolled another 30-40 yards, but it just stopped. My partner cleared the hill on the fly, and when we got to the top of the hill, to our surprise, the foursome was RIGHT THERE. We never found his ball so we’re pretty sure they picked it up.
So we waited another 10 minutes or so for them to clear the green. You can see the par 3 4th hole and the 5th tee box from where we were. The group on the 5th tee hit all of their tee shots before the slowsome even got to the 4th tee. We hit our approaches after spending time looking in the weeds for my partners lost/stolen ball, and finished the hole. The slowsome was still on the 4th tee so we skipped the hole. We actually played at a decent pace after that, but the day, for me, was already a bust. We did come back to the 4th and joined a single and played the hole when we were done the round.
They should really have ATVs instead of golf carts with all the ruts and holes everywhere. It’s not a smooth ride, that’s for sure.
The starter was pleasant enough, but they need a ranger. Badly.
Sorry the driving range is closed. Green were in great shape and rolled at a quick pace.
In good shape
Well worth the deal on golf now. Haven’t played in years. Other than some poor pin placements, on hills, good shape.
Great Course, Horrible Members/Staff
If you are looking for a great round of golf to get ruined by the uptight, rude, belittling members, look no further! Seeing other reviews complaining about how the members will be allowed to play with 5-6 people and are stood up for when they mock and belittle players should have made me not want to play here, but still took the chance. A nice golf day simply ruined by the members that want to play cop on the course and run to daddy when someone tells them to stop hitting into us, mocking us, etc.
