Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Fairways and areas needs repairs
The fairways and other areas need repairs. A lot of damage to the fairways as well as the cart paths. If the course made some of these repairs it would make playing more enjoyable and get more golfers to come back and not just for the price. Despite the course repairs the staff was courtesy and pleasant. Not eager to return soon but I will visit again.
A Ross Original that needs some TLC
I played this course for the first time since the City of Sanford purchased it. Staff was friendly and off I went. The course layout is pretty tight on the front side. Greens have some size on them overall compared to other Seminole County munis.
This course could benefit from some wider fairways (like WP9 for example) but there are a lot of areas without grass in fairways and tee boxes. I only paid $20 to play on a weekday afternoon which you can’t beat for a course that’s in mostly decent shape. Would definitely come back.
Also of note, the clubhouse/1922 Grill is being renovated so they have a smaller area set up for checking in.
FAVORITES
I love this course! Greens are fast and challenging It is a fun and challenging course.
Bestt deal is on Golfnow
I lLOVE Mayfair Golf Course... It's one of my favoritest courses to play regularly and you can't get a better deal than on Golfnow!
Birthday Golf
Tee time was useless! Why have a starter if your not pacing your groups. Allowed us to go off back to relieve the traffic jam. I enjoy the course for convenience and economics, but holy moly got to do something about the horrendous tee boxes. Disappointed in course condition and staff. They were arguing loudly at the pro shop for all to hear.
Not Good @ All
This is course is in bad shape. Really bad shape. Nothing about it was good. You can skip this track. I strongly recommend you do...
Mayfair
Not a flat course which is a nice change in Fla.well worth the money.
olde school
I believe this course was built nearly a century ago but still plays well. A lot of newer layouts have such wide fairways that you can't hit a bad tee shot...no so here. The fairways are not narrow but landing where you need to for your second shot is a bit challenging on some holes. Flyovers with water on 3 holes and a small amount of rolling terrain help make it interesting. Easy to get to off 46A just east of I-4.
Sunday Funday
Joined up at first tee with another single as plenty of tee times available early. Pace of play was awesome as ready golf was perfect. Course is coming back and conditions were good. Best bang for the buck. Guy in the pro shop obviously has no idea about customer service, but I made some new friends and played 18 holes of golf all before 10. Win win!
Rain Out
Rained out! Course looked great minus the extra water hazards provided by Mother Nature! Maybe next week!
Excellent course for the value
The course is good for being able to play your ball even after a bad off line shot.
I always enjoy playing at Mayfair! One of the oldest courses in Florida!
I play Mayfair a few times a year and always have a good time. Honestly, the greens are some of the best in town! They really take care of them and you can tell just by driving past the course. The tee boxes can use some TLC, but the fairways and rest of the course is in good condition. By all means, this is not a resort or Disney course, but it is fantastic value and great layout. This is a wide open course so it is great for all levels of golfers. That being said, it can get busy during peak times. There are a few holes that water does come into play. The bathrooms and cart paths can use some upgrades! Not many holes you can take driver out, so this is a great course for iron and wedge work. If you have never tried this course, please come out and try it!
Golf History
To be greeted by Will Cart Professional was truly a good start to a round of golf at Mayfair. The first, ninth and eighteenth all show case the clubhouse. It is tremendous to play on a course which hosted such greats as Sam Sneak, Hogan and Palmer. The layout was there. Approach shots to the greens were guarded by proper traps (old terminology)! Putter surfaces were the best part of the golf course. However, the courses needs to upgrade there deterioted cart parts and maintenance needs to be done around the clubhouse and pro shop area such as fallen down brick work. With that being said I would definately put Mayfair on my list of courses to play and say hello to Will from us. Mike and Nancy!
Good value... Would play again
First time I came to this course. Layout is okay but not in good shape at all. Greens were good so that was the reason for the positivity ... The range is 150 yards (not kidding). The bar was closed, so the food options were chips and candy, canned beer, sodas, etc. The pro inside was knowledgeable and friendly. No help with the cart or clubs, no cart girl (it’s 90 degrees out), no after on the course (that I saw). Still good value and would play again.
Course was in pretty good shape - Fun round
Course has some great things about it. Greens were in fantastic shape. Fairways and tee boxes were decent. Small pro-shop with not a ton of amenities. Starter rushed us out early to make way for a member skins game that was going on. Was told by another golfer that it is under newer management and he is trying to do some really cool things with the course. (Fairway work, Bigger social media presence, glow golf) Wasnt too bad for the price! Would recommend to try!
Greens are Really Challenges
Greens are goodFairways are fairly good. Tee boxes need work.
