Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

old school
I like this course...play it several times a year. Not very difficult, very little water with open space between fairways. The fairways are narrower than more modern courses which makes drives more important...greens where fast and smooth...lots of people off work after xmas so a real slow round but still good
My most favorite course
This is one of my favorite courses because the greens are fast and true and accurate to the roll. I play one of their skins game, too, and have won at least five times because putting is my strong point. Can't say enough about this course...a very fun course for sure!
Worth A Visit
Great value
Cart paths not good.
Fairways & Tee boxes OK
Greens very nice - the most important part!
Nice course
We had a pleasant day at the course paired with two men with roots from Sint Maarten. The course is wide, so little difficulties to retteive naald. Some interesting holes. Tees, fairways and greens were in good condition. We had to wait for 45 minutes to start due to mistake in organization. Our patience was rewarded wit a 18 holes voucher. My compliments!
BEST GREENS IN TOWN!
Mayfair is in pristine conditions these days. They have the best greens in town!
Lack of carts
I had to wait over an hour past my tee time to get out because I had to wait for some one to finish to get a cart. The staff never said anything and actually seem mad when another golfer complained about it. I was able to get out with an earlier group because I was a single and hooked up with a group of three or I would have been 1 1/2 hours past my tee time.
I did finish my round and actually had a good time.
Nice one
The only negative I can think of are the cart paths. The rest is nice! Not too difficult but the greens however can ‘spoil’ your score.
Great bang for the buck!
Range is irons which works for me. Not having a traditional starter caused huge back log at the turn. Tee boxes need help big time! Fairways and greens best in a long time. Everyone working today was super nice and accommodating. Purchased hot deal, best price in town!
My most favorite course
As always, the greens were very true to the line which makes putting fun... Wish they would trim some of the trees that are always right in front of the ladies tees like hole number 2.
Fairways and areas needs repairs
The fairways and other areas need repairs. A lot of damage to the fairways as well as the cart paths. If the course made some of these repairs it would make playing more enjoyable and get more golfers to come back and not just for the price. Despite the course repairs the staff was courtesy and pleasant. Not eager to return soon but I will visit again.
A Ross Original that needs some TLC
I played this course for the first time since the City of Sanford purchased it. Staff was friendly and off I went. The course layout is pretty tight on the front side. Greens have some size on them overall compared to other Seminole County munis.
This course could benefit from some wider fairways (like WP9 for example) but there are a lot of areas without grass in fairways and tee boxes. I only paid $20 to play on a weekday afternoon which you can’t beat for a course that’s in mostly decent shape. Would definitely come back.
Also of note, the clubhouse/1922 Grill is being renovated so they have a smaller area set up for checking in.
FAVORITES
I love this course! Greens are fast and challenging It is a fun and challenging course.
Bestt deal is on Golfnow
I lLOVE Mayfair Golf Course... It's one of my favoritest courses to play regularly and you can't get a better deal than on Golfnow!
Birthday Golf
Tee time was useless! Why have a starter if your not pacing your groups. Allowed us to go off back to relieve the traffic jam. I enjoy the course for convenience and economics, but holy moly got to do something about the horrendous tee boxes. Disappointed in course condition and staff. They were arguing loudly at the pro shop for all to hear.
Not Good @ All
This is course is in bad shape. Really bad shape. Nothing about it was good. You can skip this track. I strongly recommend you do...
Mayfair
Not a flat course which is a nice change in Fla.well worth the money.
olde school
I believe this course was built nearly a century ago but still plays well. A lot of newer layouts have such wide fairways that you can't hit a bad tee shot...no so here. The fairways are not narrow but landing where you need to for your second shot is a bit challenging on some holes. Flyovers with water on 3 holes and a small amount of rolling terrain help make it interesting. Easy to get to off 46A just east of I-4.
Sunday Funday
Joined up at first tee with another single as plenty of tee times available early. Pace of play was awesome as ready golf was perfect. Course is coming back and conditions were good. Best bang for the buck. Guy in the pro shop obviously has no idea about customer service, but I made some new friends and played 18 holes of golf all before 10. Win win!
