Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

What Happened
Use to be ok place to play for tbe price Hot deals use to make it worth it.greene are great .everything else avg or below. Dont understand how they can charge top dollar to play when you can go a 1/2 mile up the street to a quality course for the same price.sorry course is not worth your price.use ti play there a couple times a week
Not bad for 10 bucks
Course still needs work, greens look better but still bumpy. Couldn't pass up 18 for $10
Better
Mayfair has been up and down over the years - currently it's in an "up" cycle. Good to see as I've always thought that there is a place for courses like Mayfair.
Course getting better, pace of play is not
The course is getting in better shape, spots are re growing and the greens are in really good shape for the most part.
Unfortunately the booking problems are still the same. Show up for a 3:30ish Tuesday tee time as a twosome, and find out that there is a high school golf tournament AND a scramble tournament going on at the same time.
5 hour rounds have become the norm at Mayfair, but the course conditions are improving.
Not a bad course
I bring my son here to get his skills up. You can basically hit right or left and still be in play on majority of holes. I woul recommend this course for uppi g your game prior to playing a long or narrow course.
Good golf course but...
In general it is a very nice course to play but the signage is not good, you can jump from 3 to 8 with no problem and some of the signage is broken.
A++ course !!
Par for the course
Well I played this course many times. I haven't played in a couple of years because it was a rugged course. But I played in June and amazingly well quite frankly the course was in good shape for it being the course that it is. You can see that they put effort in making this course a better course. The greens were awesome Good for amateur standards like many of us are. I had a good time playing the course the only problem that I would say is that it is a bit slow. But all in all we had a great time playing the course. Great job Mayfair staff the course is looking good.
Bargain
Considering the heat .... Very impressed .... Ball sits up in the fairways .... Greens are true and fast ..... Very friendly team ...Tim was a big help ....we'll be back ... Skins games on weekends .....
Superintendent Needs to Get Working
Worst shape I've seen the course in. Way too much crabgrass on the fairways and tee boxes, if they had grass. Greens were the best part of the round so current team doing something right. The pace of play was excellent as we teed off at 7:20ish and got done right at 3 hours (twosome). Guys in front need an etiquette class though. Kept leaving flags barely in holes so they were leaning and they were loud with no regard for anyone else on the course (not Mayfair's problem). Overall "fair" but they have had this course in much better shape and hope it gets back to it.
Great course to work on game
Putting the cart paths aside (Need new paths) and several of the fairways (need weeding) this is a great course to work on any aspect of your game. The greens are some of the best in the area, tee boxes need work but they do not distract from overall playing conditions. Reasonably priced and staff is courteous.
June 24, 2017 Play
The fairways are very bumpy and the cart paths all need to be renovated. However, My wife and I enjoy playing this course. The greens are in great shape this year and the staff is great! We play at Mayfair as often as possible and always enjoy it!
Needs work
This is my "home course" but it is getting worse. The fairways as said in previous comments are very bumpy and the cart paths all need to be renovated. That being said, I enjoy playing this course. The challenge is shots to the green, you have to be accurate to avoid long chip shots on very fast greens.
Good greens, lousy fairways and cart paths
I played there once and thought I would go back to give the place a second chance and a little closer scrutiny. The greens are in pretty good shape, no one repairs their ball marks though. The fairways and cart paths are in deplorable condition, no one repairs their divots, but most of the fairways are weeds and barren spots anyway. Even driving the cart extremely slow and trying to avoid the bumps and dips, I still think I shattered a couple vertebrae. If you can overlook the condition of the place, you can get some cheap play in. I don't think they spend a nickle on maintaining the course. It might have been nice 50-60 years ago, but now just allowed to decay.
What a shame!
Greens were in great shape . Fairways rough. Tee boxes terrible. Often hard to dermine either the direction to the next hole or you were aiming . We know it is city owned. City is missing a chance by its lack of maintenance to turn this into a draw
Resort greens with cow pasture fairways
This used to be a great community course. Great, I mean really great greens. Need to get rid of crab grass and weeds in faiways.
long time Mayfair player
I have played there for years and do not believe I have ever seen it in this bad of shape!
The Good> Greens are in good shape, club house, and Real nice parking lot.
The bad>> The guy in the pro shop, I thought the first time he was there he was just having a bad day, but , all other times I have come in he's just the same. Acts pi--ed off and his face would probably brake if he smiled. Think he needs a different line of work.
Only thing the fairways are missing is cows. Tee boxes are all but nonexistent . And there might be a total of 150' of useable cart path on whole course.
Good place to practice but not to play serious golf, you have to keep moving your ball around to get out from behind crab grass or just to get it on some grass in the fairway .
Not worth 24 bucks when you can play Timacuan for 28
Poor rating for staff is because of pro shop.
