Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Great course
Always enjoy playing Mayfair. The course is in great shape, fairly easy to play and wide fairways.
Distance is great and greens are well maintained.
Definitely recommend it to all golfers.
Staff needs to be more professional and organized
I’m all for being more casual on the golf course. A stuffy environment isn’t great either. But the staff was pretty bad. I made a morning tee time for 18 holes on a weekday. Starter was no where to be found at first. I had to kind of walk around asking if people worked there so I could get a cart. Then at the turn, what appeared to be a member of the grounds staff actually joined the group to play the back 9 (wearing a T-shirt that said “staff”.) along with 2 other guys. I was a single that got paired with 2 others to start, but then these 3 joined and suddenly we are now looking at 7 people starting the back 9 at the same time. I had no heads up about this at all. It was very unorganized and awkward because they kind of tried to start the back 9 without me because they all wanted to play together. Like I was just supposed to play as a single behind two new groups of 3? It completely screwed up the day. Won’t be returning.
Always a good experience at Mayfair
Course was in decent shape. Hard to find a pristine course during a Florida summer. Had a nice outing
Fantastic for the Money
I thought this course was pretty good. I was having my car repaired at the local dealership and decided to play while my car was being worked on. The driver that took me over to the course states this is a great knock around course and I thought he was spot on. Good course that was narrow and challenging. Everyone from staff to starter to other players were very nice and several groups let me play through with no issues. I did come up on back 9 a group that did not let me but 99% of the most friendly people I have been around so thank you for a great day!
Mayfair Country Club
Good course but overbooking and groups of 5 that won’t let you play thru very frustrating played 11 holes and left couldn’t finish 3:15 for 11 holes and when I pulled up to hole 12 there were 2 groups waiting on the tee box
Course condition continues to deteriorate
I cannot believe that with miles of beaches less than an hour from here, the bunkers are mostly dirt. Greens are slightly below average condition, fairways are spotty, and even the tee boxes could use work. Pace of play was good (9 holes in 2:10. Staff is okay. For the first time I saw a beverage cart. I live very close by so will probably come back, but I will give them time to perform some much needed maintenance.
Course is in great shape for this time of the year. Greens rolled true. Fairways had some spots but overall great shape. Pace of play is always on the slower side here but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the afternoon. Temporary green on the Par 5 12th, but even the temp green was in better shape than some of the regular greens at other courses around town. Overall, if you’re looking for good golf this time of year and not trying to break the bank, Mayfair is the place to play.
Poor Customer Service
I booked a round for me and 2 friends through golf now. While there was no issue checking in and playing, we got hit with terrible weather and lightning. We were able to finish the front 9. When I went to the clubhouse to get a rain check for another day, they said they could not honor it since it was booked through Golfnow.
I spent 20 minutes or so on the phone with Golfnow and they said they would need to confirm with the course the date, cost, and rain issues. They said they were unable to get ahold of the course. I called the course right after the call and got through first time.
What a horrible experience and I'm now out 60 bucks (me and my guests) and Mayfair nor GolfNow seem to care. Terrible experience. Will probably not play this course again nor use GolfNow if there is not remedy.
Mayfair Country Club
They have upgraded the quality of the greens and fairways. Greens rolled awesome great speed. Not much for clubhouse supposedly going to build a new one? People were friendly. Only problem is pace of play its always busy
