Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Same Course
The course was the same as it always was. Greens a little torn up, sand everywhere, tee boxes in poor shape. The clubhouse looks great and new carts with course gps. We payed 40 bucks with taxes and fees.
Quick course 4 hours
Been playing Mayfair since I was 9 seems like they are really trying to make the course a nice little place to go. No driving range at the moment and hopefully they build up some T Boxes on the back 9 and a few greens and T boxes need work where they have you hitting off the fairway. One other note sanford built bigger water treatment center making t shot like your in the city on the front 9.Will play often if I get under $35
In rough shape
Several of the greens were diseased and in bad shape. Tee boxes, which should be the easiest thing to maintain, were awful. The grass on three of the tees (two par 3’s and one par 4) were so long it was like hitting out of the rough. Several other tee boxes were basically a sand trap. Three tee boxes were so uneven you couldn’t find a level spot to tee up your ball. Fairways were okay in some spots, but as you get closer to the greens, you know - where you might want to hit a wedge, you were mostly playing off of thin grass and dirt. They spent all that money on the clubhouse (which is nice), but what does it matter if the course is a goat track. Do better, Mayfair!
Club House beautiful course not so munch..
The course needs help… Tee boxes were trash hitting out of a sand trap.. Fairways were horrible had to move ball to some grass.. Greens were in good condition. But there were a few in trouble..
Club house was sweet . Could be a great golf club if more attention was dedicated to the course itself.
Recommend not going unless u get a hot deal
Tee boxes-some good some bad, many were uneven. Little to no fairway turf! Huge bald spots, very thin where grass is actually growing. Greens are green but slow and uneven. Bunkers just filled with loose dirt.
Overall, I would say go find a different course to play if forced to pay full price.
For the homers on here, that rate this course above a 3- it's going to take more than rain to save this place. It's been a low-quality course for 20 years and appears it likely will be for more.
Everyone is proud of the new clubhouse but that doest add anything to the course playability.
Great new club house, not so great golf
Happy to see the clubhouse complete, Hated the poorly managed course. Longest round ever, couldn't wait to be done and gone. No range to warm up, No ranger to controll idiots on course.
Decent course but a few warts
Enjoyed the layout and once course gets sorme water I feel like it will be a great track. In my opinion the owners need to put some effort into improving the practice facilities (a hittable range instead of 2 green nets and upgrade the putting/chipping green to be more than 3 holes (that are not comparable to the course)
Great Day
It was a pleasure and a great opportunity to play there. Everything was good 👍🏼
Staff
All the staff from the pro shop to the dining area were exceptionally courteous. The new clubhouse and restaurant are superb.
Why Mayfair club keeps me coming back
Mayfair Club has become a genuinely enjoyable place to play again, thanks to the impressive work of the new course management team, who have brought the course back to the level of quality it was once known for. The brand‑new clubhouse is a standout—clean, modern, and supported by a staff that’s consistently friendly and attentive. The food is solid, the service is excellent, and the overall amenities feel fresh and well cared for. While the extremely dry weather over the past couple of months has taken a toll on the fairways and greens, the course remains in good shape and very playable. Its wide‑open layout makes it welcoming for the average golfer, yet it still offers enough challenge to keep better players engaged. Mayfair is absolutely worth recommending, especially with the positive momentum it’s gained.
Will play there again!
Money well spent by City on this course. Nice new clubhouse, new golf carts, well manicured course conditions & friendly cart guys. We also enjoyed lunch at the restaurant, great food and friendly servers.
Jay
This course has a lot of work to be done. Sand in the fairways is unacceptable for a golf course! Tough to enjoy.
The greens are in good shape, the fairways are in terrible condition. Arnold Palmer would be rolling in his grave if he saw the condition his course is in.
