Little Gem
Although I should have scored better, I did enjoy this course enough to want to come back. Wished they rolled the greens a little more to not have it so bumpy.
This is a great course to force you to play your short game.
great coarse to play. Maintained good
this is a great coarse for beginner to intermediate player. Challenges you with different varieties of shots. I love playing this coarse. Also has great practice area.
Definetely will be back
First time at Ashwood, but definetely won't be the last!. Course kept in great shape and very easy to play. Staff very friendly. Large Driving range, chipping area and putting green, all in one place.
Short High Desert Gem
Executive par 63 course (3 nine hole tracks). Always in near perfect condition, great views of mountains, house lined.
Course consistently will double book tee times with tournaments and bump you to different holes multiple times...even if you ask if there is a tournament they will always say no so be prepared. Driving range runs out of balls on the weekend.
Fun course
Nice course for par 65. 3 nines. The greens are well kept, sometimes fast, sometimes slow but challenging with undulations and ridges.
Great little executive course
The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in good condition, well maintained course, I just wish that the grounds crew would not water in the middle of the afternoon when it's over 100* this just increases the humidity. The only negative is the goose droppings on some of the greens, kind of a turn off.
bait and switch
This course is advertised as a 27 hole course, but when you arrive you will find that it will cost extra to play all 27 holes. The course is in good condition but is some what mundane with many holes playing the same as the one just finished.
Great for "nine hole" play....
Being retired, my wife and I have been looking for a nice 9 hole that is reasonably priced. Using GolfNow tee times, we were able to schedule a 3:06 tee at Birch 9 holes for $10. The course allows just the right amount of challenge and can be played in about 2hrs. A friendly clubhouse staff was very helpful!
A good solid course
The course plays well for anyone... It's kept up pretty well for being in the desert. The staff is exceptionally friendly, not once have I been there and have had something to complain about.. Also is a great place to get a beginner started... Short course and a good driving range.
Greens were in pretty good shape for the time of year
Enjoyed playing the course. Even thoug it is a sort course par 65, you have enough water, traps and side hill lies to make it interesting
The course seems to b in nice shape and staff are very nice
Course and personel are very nice pace of play a little backed up and slow but besides that good awsome
The course needs some maintenance but it's still fun to play depending on the wind. The fun comes from the risk/reward holes when go for the green.
The fairways have not recovered from the high desert cold months and the sand traps could use more sand. With an 11 m/hr wind and the hard fairways, It was easy for your off line tee ball to run-out into a water hazard placed on several of the holes. Also, the pin placements on several holes were set up for a Sunday tournament. The greens were very fast with debris from the numerous water fowl. What makes the course fun is that there are several holes you can go for the green. But I must say their practice facility is outstanding.
Hard to beat.
I like the course enough that I've made it "my regular course" so to speak. My wife is a teacher and I'm a supervisor for a construction company and I consider us at least average or above on the food chain and we both love to play, but still I believe the sport is rather costly to indulge and as much as I love this game, I would still give it up if it were any more expensive to play. With that in mind I have to say that compared to some courses I play in other areas, Ashwood is not overly priced for what the course offers.
I've played courses in this price range that were not maintained near as well as Ashwood and left much to be desired. It's a pleasant course with a great staff and reasonable rates. I only have good thing to say about this course. There are a few holes that make me tee off with a less than desirable drives because "out of bounds" means "houses" and for an old hack like me, some of them are just too close. But this is true for most of the courses I've played. If you're not a "pro" then don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about!
Anyway, I'm on there email list so I get notified of special rate offers as well as special functions like nite golf, etc., in case I want to take advantage of any of that. In my opinion this course is an excellent golfing value.
I love having three 9s to choose from.
I love this course and the staff is great!!! I love having three 9s to choose from. It is like playing a different course everytime I play there.
stress free, easy and fun
I will play it again. This course will improve your short game.
Bang for the buck!
Small course, wide fairways, made some sorry shots, but found my ball most of the time! Staff is nice. Joseph told us that there are sometimes discounts online, which saved us some bucks! Thanks Ashwood.
Ashwood
This is one if my favorite courses to play. Even though it is a 45 minutes drive it is well worth it. As there are 3 seperate 9-hole courses at this location, the diverseness keeps it fun. They also have a very nice driving range, seperate chipping area and huge putting green. The course is well maintained and the wild life there is plentiful. A really fun place to play.
The best public course in the High Desert
Ashwood Golf course offers three challenging nine hole courses. From the blue markers, it is just as challenging as any around. The greens roll beautifully and the course is in great winter condition.
