Excellent conditions
The greens were running fast, perfect weather considering the high deserts usual windy conditions. Ashwood greens wee excellent condition, made for a great threesome paced game. Thanks for the great rate..
Winner
Short game course, but everything was in excellent condition. 3 nine hole choices with some excellent over the water par 3s, No par 5s, but the condition more than makes up for it. Today the greens were almost perfect.
Meh!
Course was in pretty good shape. Really wish someone would have told me about the sanded greens. Bunkers are disappointing, they are rocky, course should just make them grass bunkers.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course perfect day. I shot the round of my life. The staff is friendly and helpful, the course is well laid out and yet still challenging.
Birch
Great course for the most part, they had recently arriated the final 3 holes on Birch, leaving the fairways with layers of grass plugs. Still a great outing and worth the money for some Liesure time golfing eith my son.
Break in between Storms
Course was in winter condition but very fair. Played in between two wind and rain storms, so a little breezy.Fairways and greens in good shape
A Del of a course
Although this course is not a long course, the Del Webb design and layout challenges you to make good club selections as you balance the benefits of good ball position versus going for distance.
I actually liked the way the traps were positioned, as well as, the numerous pond/lakes that adorn the course and challenges you more than you would think for a desert course. My wife actually liked all the giant fish in the lakes.
My biggest complaint would be the lack of coarse markings or a GPS system on the cart to help with distance, and I consider myself someone who plays a lot by feel and does not rely a lot on modern technology. That said, perhaps there were some books that would've given the distances to various hazards.
All in all, I would definitely play there again and really enjoyed the time out on the course even in 99° weather… was a dry heat… LOL.
Wow, now worse course in High Desert
I have played this course since it opened and was shocked at how this course looked when I played it. I heard they have new ownership and they let it go. Brown fairways, bunkers haven't been maintained in months and greens are yellow and dirt is showing. It is absolutely embarrassing. I always bragged about how well they maintained the course and how it was always one of the best in the high desert. They raised the rates and the course is now the worst. I will not be playing the course until they maintain the course. Wow, how disappointing. My dad told me the new ownership bought a course in San Diego and they let that course go as well. He called it!
Very poorly maintained
The fairways are nothing but divots, no repairs done. The bunkers have no sand and are all rocks and gravel. Out of the 5 local courses this place had the worst greens by far. Super slow and very bumpy. In addition to being the most expensive course and not even being a full length course, will not play again in the near future.
This course was good for a casual round of golf
course was in nice condition and the staff was very good
Nice little desert gem
Yes it's only a par 64- but do not be fooled into thinking its some dinky par 3 exec track... Ashwood has quality greens and is very well manicured. Mostly dormant in the winter, but probably very nice come spring. We had a great time, played very fast and never had anyone behind us. Price was great and very fun. Lots of challenging par 4's and some long par 3's... 200 yd plus. Great track
Great course
This was a great small course with no pat 5's. It was a little windy for the first half of our round but not too bad. The course has a total of 27 holes, and after finishing 18 in a little over 2 hours we decided to play the other 9. The staff member in the pro shop was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely play there again.
Good Day of Golf
I played in the winter so the grass was not green. Greens were in good shape. Tee boxes were good. Noticeable work needed were carts have turned grass to dirt. Some maintenance in this area needs to be done to keep the course conditions from declining.
Love, Love, Love Ashwood courses
I play Ashwood courses twice a week and love all three courses. I like switching up courses as I play 18 holes. I will continue playing Ashwood courses as long as I live in the high desert.
I agree with you 100%, I have been playing 2 other courses in the high desert, Apple Valley , and Hesperia, I played Green Tree only once, At my age the other courses are too long for me, I do enjoy playing them , but it is disappointing to take 3 to get on the green every time, After playing Ashwood for the first time a couple of weeks ago , I want to make it my home course, and want to play it as often as I can. It might be a short course but it is very challenging. With the draught in CA. and the end of the summer season, I thought the course was in very good condition, and the staff was very friendly.
Quick outting
Last minute round with my boys, course is in pretty good condition except for all the bird droppings on the greens. I have played here a few times but I've never seen so many droppings on the greens.
Fun in the morning
The course was in very good shape, the greens were just fight i could back up the ball on most of them. The regulars that play there are not very good at fixing the ball marks on the greens so I fixed plenty of them, to bad that has always been a problem on public courses. There is no need for a driver on most par fours you put the ball in the 60-70 yard range if you drive the hole. great short game course
Mr. Bragg,
We appreciate you choosing to spend your day with us at Ashwood! I would like to explain to you the set backs we have incurred this summer in course conditions and most importantly our plan to improve these in the coming months. Also would like to clarify change in management and not ownership. Your support of Ashwood is important to us. Please call 760.240.1800 ext. 5 or e-mail jlake@troon.com at your convenience.
