Course Highlights
Red Tail's course layout consistently earns high praise for its fun, challenging design with memorable holes around the lake. Friendly staff, smooth check-in, and comfortable pace of play make this an outstanding value for the money.

About

Holes 18
Type Semi-Private
Style Links
Par 72
Length 7152 yards
Slope 142
Rating 74.5

Atypical of many Florida golf courses, RedTail Golf Club is a links-style layout dotted with 100-year-old oak trees and azaleas among its rolling green fairways. Designed by Dave Harman, who also did Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, the course features four lakes with water coming into play on the last five holes. Holes 14-18 work their way around the largest lake on the course, while the finishing hole's approach shot plays over another body of water in front of the clubhouse. Located in rural Sorrento a little more than a half hour north of Orlando, RedTail Golf Club prides itself on catering to "members only."

Good Course

This course is very challenging, if you land in the rough just take a drop, no way you are finding the ball, and if you do, you are not getting out. Only negative point is that the cart girls don’t have a card reader, they have to enter the card numbers…

Improving

Red Tail has had some issues over the past few years. Mgmt seems to be working to improve the conditions of the course. Granted it still needs some work but it's coming along.

Great Neighborhood Ambiance

You can’t help enjoy a round of golf at RedTail; the course weaves through a community of luxury homes that will make you smile while you take in the views of good living.

The course is fun and challenging without a lot of water obstacles (refreshing change from most Florida courses).

However, like most Florida courses, the Tee boxes, fairways and greens all have signs of constant use, but you can tell the grounds team tries to keep them maintained.

Great Value

Great course!! Course makes you play strategically as if you hit off the fairway you are in rough shape. Have to layup on many holes.

Great Value For Money

Enjoyed my play here — not much to complain about. For the price they offer, you get much more than expected. The course layout is fun and challenging enough for most golfers, with a few standout holes that make the round memorable. Greens rolled decently and fairways were in good shape considering the time of year.

Staff were friendly and check-in was smooth. Pace of play was comfortable — finished 18 without feeling rushed or held up.

If you're looking for a solid round without breaking the bank, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back.

Horrible

The only nice thing about this course are the homes around it. Worst conditioned course I've played in a long time. Sorry to criticize, but when its due then its due. This use to be a great course and its been completely let go. Sad

Upsetting

I have played this course before and enjoyed it. But today, the best part of the course was looking at the houses. This course was in such bad shape everywhere. From the tee boxes, to the fairways, to the bunkers, to the greens there was nothing good about this course. I was disappointed by playing here today.

Lost it’s prestige

I played this course for the first time in 2015 and wow was it nice! Fairways, tee boxes, greens, all conditions were in excellent condition. Played multiple times until 2019 and it was the same great course! During those years I played It used to be $55-$65 back then and now it’s $35 and that says something. Since 2020 I’ve played 3 times hoping it gets back to what it was. The greens have been bad, lots of patches, so unless you’re really close you will have something in the way of your putt. Tee boxes are in bad condition with lots of fire ants. Fairways aren’t terrible but definitely not what it used to be. Sand traps are mostly just hard all around. Overgrowth on every hole. The layout is great, it’s challenging and fun but it’s just in poor condition in all aspects. Sad to see what has happened to Red Tail

Needs a redo ASAP

Everything and I mean everything needs attention. I lost more in play balls then I do in a month of play at other courses. Greens are terrible, fairways are dismal at best. They don’t cut the fairways like they should. Fairways look like secondary cuts and there is no third cut. If your ball is not perfectly in the fairway, Kiss it bye bye. To be honest they should probably close it for a couple of years and try to recover it. Redtail of the past is no more. :(

Horrible condition

This is the worst course condition of any course I have ever played. If you don’t hit dead center of the fairways, your ball will be lost. Crabgrass on the greens make straight putts without being thrown off target by crabgrass near impossible.

Nice course - terrible greens

The only reason I can’t rate higher is because of the greens. Bring a sand wedge instead of your putter. The greens that aren’t dirt are full of weeds. It’s a shame because the course is otherwise awesome.
