RedTail Golf Club
About
Atypical of many Florida golf courses, RedTail Golf Club is a links-style layout dotted with 100-year-old oak trees and azaleas among its rolling green fairways. Designed by Dave Harman, who also did Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, the course features four lakes with water coming into play on the last five holes. Holes 14-18 work their way around the largest lake on the course, while the finishing hole's approach shot plays over another body of water in front of the clubhouse. Located in rural Sorrento a little more than a half hour north of Orlando, RedTail Golf Club prides itself on catering to "members only."

Course Underwater
Greens were great but So much water still left on the course left a lot to be desired. 7th hole was completely closed, and many holes, hitting into the rough meant hitting into a swamp. I’d come back but not for a while to let things dry up.
Excellent value, great greens, nice amenities.
Will be back!
Slight storm damage
Have played the course before and loved it.
Today, one hole closed due to Central Florida flooding from Ian, and can see the damage caused to the course.
All in all still excellent, damage to a couple of greens, but they still had wonderful putting surfaces.
Still worth a look anytime.
Course is a great layout. Very links style, but the greens weren't that undulating for links style. Fairways were broken up for multiple landing areas. Some nice elevation changes. Tons of hazards and bunkers. You really had to think on every shot. Would play again.
Greens are in great shape ! The fairways are good !
The in between areas are lacking a bit of care but overall very playable.
If it's too Good to Be True
Needed to get out after Ian went through, and noticed many open tee times at Redtail. I found out real quickly why the course was empty .... cart path only (was not advised of this), one hole shut down due to flooding (understandable, but not advised), greens in so-so shape, fortunately never ended up in any traps -- fall of rocks, fairways were a joke in many locations. It's just a shame, used to a wonderful course ..... it's too bad they need to use subtrofuge to get players out there
Course shape
The course greens are in excellent condition. Fairways are smooth.
Pleasant Surprise
Wow, what difference a couple years make. Course is in the best shape I’ve seen in 2 years. Greens are significantly better, including tee boxes. Still work to be done, but amazing progress. Highly recommend the course. Beautiful community and the course has a ton of shade throughout the round. I’ll definitely be back.
Course is tough but fair.
Course was in excellent shape even with the rain that we have had.
Needs Some TLC
This was the best kept secret golf course but now the tee boxes and fairways were horrible. Sand traps were terrible. The greens looked great but were very grainy and slow. Amazing layout, no cart/drink person, brand new cart with GPS was nice. It is too bad, it is a beautiful course and property. Hopefully they turn it around.
The next Sanctuary Ridge!!! Not worth $20/round
This place is awful, it’s gone so far down hill. Worst “pro-shop” staff in all of central FL. If I was a member I’d be livid. They have brand new carts with GPS but they have so many restricted areas on the carts you have to walk forever which slows down pace of play; so then you have the locals with personal carts on your butt rushing you.
No attention to the bunkers whatsoever, rocks all in the cheap sand and more weeds than you can count!
They have stopped mowing the rough, it’s 3ft high.
Speaking of HIGH, whoever is cutting the greens needs a drug test! They got like 3 different cuts on the them.
It’s worth $1 a hole AT BEST!!
Course is getting back to where it use to be. Greens are good. Fairways are good but some weeds. Tee boxes need some work.
Disaster
Terrible course. Looks like it hasn’t been cut in weeks. When you lose a ball on the fairways, something is wrong. On # 7 my ball on the frindge of the green was buried. This course need some serious work. I will not pay or play here until they fix the conditions.
Disappointed
Played this course about 6 months ago, fantastic layout and good condition.Looked forward to playing it again and was highly disappointed. Bunkers were non existent and weeds growing in all of them. Rough was dry with bare spots or weeds everywhere including around all the greens. Greens and fairways were okay but would not recommend until course management improves.
Course is in decent shape ! Fairways and greens are in gr3at shape .
Some area are not being mowed ! Not manicured but decently good, worth the price of admission for sure
Always fun
Although a very hot day, at least no rain. I would have enjoyed it more if my game had been better!
Staff very friendly and pleasant. We live about a hour away, so, when I see a deal there, we try to make the trip over. Always a fun round, but challenging. Nice to find out that a restaurant is available. Next time, lunch before round.
Course conditions were acceptable, not pristine but ok. Greens rolled true and mostly in good shape.
Fun but challenging
A nice course to play with some rather challenging layouts. The rough was rough so you’d want to keep the ball in play.
This is the ONLY accurate and honest review on this course since 2020. Anyone leaving 3,,4,5 star reviews are either lying or blind. This course is finished, and put in its grave by CONTINUAL crap managers with 8 minutes of experience.
That guy (a pretend "pro" who cant break 85) from Black Bear is a death sentence to any course, so no surprise.
A really great course, destroyed.
