About
Atypical of many Florida golf courses, RedTail Golf Club is a links-style layout dotted with 100-year-old oak trees and azaleas among its rolling green fairways. Designed by Dave Harman, who also did Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, the course features four lakes with water coming into play on the last five holes. Holes 14-18 work their way around the largest lake on the course, while the finishing hole's approach shot plays over another body of water in front of the clubhouse. Located in rural Sorrento a little more than a half hour north of Orlando, RedTail Golf Club prides itself on catering to "members only."

Golfer Reviews
Sorry conditions
It's really unfortunate that this course was in such sad shape. The greens were the worst I have ever seen. We decided that we would only take 2 putts to try to get to the pins because of conditions and not being able to get a true roll. There was some severely wet areas in the fairways as well.
Great Layout Greens Awful
Course has a terrific layout that incorporates two lakes perfectly and for the layout alone I still recommend it. However, the greens are as bad as described in previous reviews. Also, their plan is to tell u once u check in and say they were supposed to tell you when you booked your tee time - which never happened.
Poor Conditions
We've played Redtail three or four times, this is the worst condition we have ever seen it.
Greens not playable
I feel terrible for anyone that works at Red Tail. Someone allowed the greens to lose just about every bit of grass that used to be on them them. That's past tense. They lost EVERY green. Think of the worst greens you have ever putted on, these are worse. BY FAR. Like I said, I feel bad for all the staff. But unless you just need to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine, not worth it.
Terrible Greens
Staff admitted that they lost the greens to cold and frost over the last couple months. Staff admitted to being embarrassed by the current condition of the greens. Would not play this course for any amount of money until the greens are back to normal. Staff did the right thing by giving us rain checks good through the end of the calendar year.
New Greens
The only thing wrong with this course is it's greens. I have not played on worse greens sense Deer Run Closed. I was extremely disappointed in that they still play on them. Unbelievable. Lets just say I will not be playing there in the next years, unless they replant the greens. Because that is what it is going to take for the greens to regenerate. Sorry folk but that is how I see it.
Greens are unplayable
Love this course but the greens are trashed right now. 6 foot putt will bounce 5 times. Not sure what happened to them but not worth the money and won’t return until they get them back right. A shame! Can’t really believe they are charging money to play...course should be shut down until fixed...unless you don’t want to putt.
Unplayable Greens
Almost every green was was in an unputtable condition and some holes had almost no green at all. Staff mentioned it after we paid for the round. Would not go back.
Needs help, and work
So sad that a wonderful layout is in such poor condition. I have always enjoyed the challenging layout. Unfortunately with the current condition it is questionable whether it is worth the cost to play. The greens are in terrible shape, fairways are a bit thin and the sand traps are in obvious need of some TLC. I sincerely hope they can bring the course back to the way it has always been. Would love to come back and see the improvements!
Greens are terrible! Plus now all you can play for one price has cheap golfers who really need supervision ( rangers) pace of play very slow ! This course was excellent last year, I will check back next time before coming back!
nice course poorly maintained
It's a shame that such a nice course was not properly maintained. All of the greens were dead, some just dirt with punched out holes. The layout is great but with such poor green condition it's hardly worth the trip. Until greens improve, which likely will take months, cost should be reduced to less than $30.00.
Course is going through a climate change, and is playing tougher because of the maintenance to the greens and fairways. But I still reccomend it to everyone who wants to play golf here.
Greens unplayable
Course should be closed until they can fix the greens. We have played numerous times and the greens were fantastic. Drove over an hour and very disappointed. Manager informed us before we played, but should have informed us to save the drive.
Aweful conditions
This was once an excellent course. The greens have become infested with a fungus that has made them unplayable. Tee boxes, fairways and rough are as good as they always are. All 18 greens have this issue. There is more dirt on them than grass. Such a shame. I hope they can fix this in due course of time.
Course conditions
We play here a lot, the greens are damaged from cold. It will take months to get them back.
