Eagle Dunes Golf Club

About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

4 Stars
Greens in great shape, which is all you really need for an enjoyable round. Fairways are spotty, rough is quite tough, and the course has lots of areas where it’s gotten away from the greens keeper. Nothing that would prevent you from playing an enjoyable round and putting on some smooth greens. It would require some serious investment to get this course to a condition where you wouldn’t have to play it “up” in the fairways and rough both.
I was pretty disappointed with the pro shop attendant. I booked a 6:56am tee time, first tee time of the day. They bumped us back to 7:12 and let a handful of groups go ahead of us. I expressed my disappointment and the attendant flatly said “I don’t have time to argue with you”. Odd experience, for sure.
Greens, Fairways and Tee Boxes in Good Condition
This was the third time I’ve played this course this year. I like the layout and the changes in elevation. The greens are in great shape as are the fairways and tee boxes. I wish they would mow the rough a little lower to help pace of play since an errant tee shot might be hard to find since you practically have to stand over the ball to find it in the five inch rough. Also the sand traps are not maintained at all so they are very punitive. Otherwise this is a very fun course that I look forward to playing again. Btw this is not a course for a beginner. If you are a beginner you should try the Wonter Park 9-hole course.
Retired Vet
Eagle Dyne was very well kept the greens were just right the fairways were groomed nicely, I have always liked this course!
Greens in great shape
Unlike the majority of courses in the area, Eagle Dunes have done a really good job with their fairways and greens. The roughs are a bit sketchy, but they have taken care of the earlier equipment problems and are rapidly getting back in shape. The staff is really friendly and make you feel welcome. Great day.
Great layout
The greens were in great shape and rolled beautifully. Definitely a great course for the money. The third cut is a little thick, but with fairways this wide, just hit it straighter and you’ll be fine 😂
Membership has its privileges
We played behind some members that we know. They were 2 4somes with their carts (4 carts per group). They played so fast, we had trouble keeping up with them. Other players may have minded but, as a twosome following them, we completed our round in 3 1/2 hours with a few rain delays. Only complaint is the depth of the rough. We (and the members in front of us) spent a lot of time searching for golf balls in the 12" to 18: deep rough right off of the fairway. We lost 2 balls but found 10 searching for ours. I can see where that could be problematic on a weekend with ALL golfers looking for lost balls just past the fairway (left or right).
So much potential but not quite
The small driving range was highly abused, but there was enough grass to figure it out. There werent any cleaning amenities though, as in brushes or water to clean my club faces. I thought the layout was better than a lot of courses in the area but the utter lack of bunker maintenance (maybe none at all this year?)..lots of grass growing in them too...
Many tee boxes had tons of huge divots, seriously that many. The greens had a lot of grass but the edges on many were heavily plugged. Unfortunately, someone saw fit to put the holes in the areas that had all of the plugs. That's insane. The rough was just Bahia grass and left to itself. A player I was paired with said it used to be an excellent course but though there were rumors of bankruptcy. Alas, 1pm on a Saturday and 2 people working the grill...had no hot dogs or sausage dogs but offered to microwave a sausage dog for me. 🙄
Frustrating
If you like barely missing the fairway... and STILL losing balls every hole.. this course is for you... very frustrating how unkept the roughs are...it’s a shame.. other then that course is fun and great layout.
Will not come back
The course is in very poor condition. Most of the tee boxes have weed growing. If you don’t hit the fairway you will not find your balls.
Course has challenging holes from the tips
Spent a pleasant day of it working on my game. Was able to let others play through at their pace.
Hope I win the putter in the raffle!
Needs some work rough very long in spots but tees fairways and greens are playable and over all a good value for the money.
Great greens
I have played several courses in the area lately but Eagle Dunes greens are the best. The roughs and bunkers need more attention. Good course had a fun day.
Jl’s opinion
Come on back people, the rough has been mowed so we can find the ball again. The greens are good, fairways getting greener with each rain. Was able to finally use a fairway wood again. Too bad they can’t control the high heat.
The rough is cut
Been a great course with a great layout for a great value and it’s finally worth playing again!
Rain Brings Out the Best
The recent rainfall has done wonders for the course - grass has come in nicely on the tee boxes and fairways Greens are perfect. The staff, as always is first class.
Poor conditions
Staff were great but the course leaves much to be desired. The rough intrudes into the fairway in most fairways. There were random tufts of crab grass in the greens. Clippings were accumulated inside the sand traps. Pace was good no issues but I would not pay 50 to play there again.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff. Thanks for visiting us!
