Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club
About
Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club is a Scottish links-style layout that is routed through sparkling lakes and carefully preserved conservation areas. The challenging layout features narrow tree-lined fairways and water hazards on all 18 holes. The front nine is short and tight, which contrasts nicely with the longer and more open back nine. Overall though, the golf course is not particularly long by modern standards. It is a shot-maker's course, requiring both accuracy and skilled iron play. The course has a challenging finishing hole that sums up the best elements of the course. This par-4 is a sharp dogleg right with a slew of bunkers and a pond to reckon with. The hole borders a nature preserve, making it the prettiest and most challenging hole on the course.

Beautiful course!
Nice course layout, the fairways and greens were in great shape, overall it was it was visually very pleasing! The staff was also very friendly! I would definitely recommend this course if you have the chance to play it!
A rough day
Accidentally (my fault) showed up early. The pro-shop got us out early. The staff was very friendly. Course conditions were good, considering all the much needed rain. We don't get cartpath only conditions too often in Florida. But Sunday was one of them. I would like to play this course under normal conditions. There is lots of water hazards. Because of its short length, we had to blend the tees. And lastly. I was told that the course has alligators. But only saw 1 small one on 18. We don't have them ion Ocala courses. We weren't playing slow. Played in under 4 hrs, but let a faster 2-some play through. But another 2-some who we were not holding up. Suddenly jumped ahead of us. We caught up with them on the next tee box. Had a brief discussion, and let them go (2 young kids).. I'll come back and play some day. I wouldn't pay more than $60. It's not Lake Jovita 😕
Fun Course
I had not played this course in many years. The course other than wet in a couple of places was in fine shape and greens were quick and testing. I enjoyed the layout and pace of play was good. Price was in line with any in the area and the staff was accommodating where ever possible. Good value and a lot of fun.
Wow , great place
Wow , what a exciting layout. The course conditions (fairways & greens ) are absolutely amazing.
Hate to say anything bad because the course is amazing. But only thing to drink is at a very ,very busy bar . Also nothing to grab & go eat . So what, next time I'll bring a bottle of water & candy bar with me.
The fairway turf and speedy greens more than made up for anything bad.
Will be back !
Not spectacular, but worth it.
No complaints about this course really. The person I was paired with cussed incessantly and that was annoying. As well, he talked A LOT and complained even on good shots. It was difficult to enjoy the round to be honest. But, it was still better than being at work. The course conditions were good to go and for the price, I'd do it again for sure.
Nicest around
First time playing the Championship Course and was very impressed. I’d play here over Jovita any day. Well kept, greens rolled nice and pace of play is better than any other course in the area. Highly recommended!
Don’t let the yardage fool you
At just under 6100 yards it’s not the easiest par 72. Lot of water and tight spaces. Greens are fast and in great shape. Fairways and tee boxes are amazing as well. Well worth a $70 tee time. Will make this a priority course going forward now that they’re more open to the public
Great condition
I play in a league that plays weekly all over the area. This was by far one of the best condition courses we had played all year.
Good Value
The course is in good shape. green grass all around. Putting greens are very smooth and pretty quick somewhat a challenging layout. The only bad thing is NO WATER to drink and no cart service. Being semi-private I was very bummed about that aspect. 5 stars for the overall experience I suggest you play here it is a little short so not all driver holes but that's fun and you can use all your clubs in the bag,
Course is fun
This is a great, fun and challenging course. You won't need a driver on some holes. I will be back soon
Best fairways I’ve played this year in Florida
Fairways were great. Course conditions were overall very good for this time of year. Course is a little short but accuracy is required. Really enjoyed the course and the people I was pared with. Great day! Congrats to the superintendent on a very good product!!
Pleasant round of golf`
It was a beautiful afternoon and about 85 degrees. Started in mid afternoon and just finished before dark at about 6:20. The round was about 4 1/2 hours long which was fine by me. I had a second golfer with me, and we paired with a couple on the first tee. Both of us just over 70 years old elected to play the gold tees. The course condition especially for the winter was very good. Bunkers were well done, there was grass everywhere, the Greens were well taken care of as well. Of course worked its way through a residential development. The layout is pretty clear and in front of you. There are no trees or obstacles but one has to navigate the slight turns and bends especially around several water hazards on the back 9, especially the last half of the back nine. Overall it was a very pleasant and enjoyable round not stressful nor rushed. I would point out that there's only two places to get water on the course at 2 of the affixed restroom stations. So one may want to carry their own water. My total cost includes fees and taxes.
Don't let the rating / slope / yardage fool you
Course was in great shape! Due to COVID 19 the clubhouse was closed but we were able to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the day. Rick is great to work with.
As for the course, you better be straight, and accurate cause their is trouble everywhere. If you play the 150 pole and then hot a good approach you can score well.
Water on the left, water on the right
This course was very enjoyable. The thing that I would note the most is the abundance of water. It seemed like every single hole had water on the left and right. If you're accurate, it was avoidable but a better player will have a better time. Accuracy off the tee is critical for this fact. There were a lot of very nice holes on this golf course. One that I liked the most was a very short par 4 where three wood was plenty off the tee. The greens were very nice, even late in the day. I look forward to playing here again.
My Review of Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club
The course was very good. It looked good. It was in very good condition and not too wet. Tee boxes were in good condition, fairways were in good condition, and greens were in pretty good condition with some ball marks. I saw many birds on the course. I was standing about 2 feet away from a sandhill crane on the course while some other sandhill cranes were very close to me. The course is like many other courses in Florida. The course has much water, many sand traps, much wildlife, and minor elevation changes. I hit out of one sand trap. The bunker was good, not packed down too tightly and not too firm. Tom, who was working at the course, was nice and helpful, and another man, who was working at the course, was also nice. Other people on the course were also nice. I saw almost nobody on the course. Not too many people, which is good. Pace was great, but my cart was slow.. I was able to hit on a good driving range (aqua range) beforehand with grass, not mats. An interesting swing plane device was on the driving range, and it was in good condition. It was like a big PVC hoop on a tilt similar to a golf swing plane, and I could swing a golf club along the plane. The practice green was off limits, but I was able to practice putting and chipping on the 9th hole. I don't like that I couldn't book a tee time at the course online. I had to call first. 1 thumb down for not being able to book a tee time online, but 2 thumbs up to the course, which was great, and a thumb up to Tom for helping me.
