Alaqua Country Club

About
Alaqua Country Club was designed by golf legend Gary Player and opened in 1988. Player put his personal stamp on the private 18-hole golf course, with its elevated tees and other features that make it playable for his level of golfer as well as high handicappers.
Alaqua Country Club leads off with a 501-yard par-5 hole, a picturesque tee shot from an elevated tee. There is water on the left all the way to the green and a wooded area on the right. The fairway narrows the last 50 yards to the green.
The golf course measures 6,662 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3, and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass

Better hit them strait!!!
Course was in great shape from the first tee to the last green. Very narrow fairways and a lot of water. Could only hit driver on 2 holes. Was a private course now semi private. Definitely worth playing. Seen 27 deer on the back nine. Course backs up to a preserve.
Good value, challenging , wildlife and water
Full but moved. Narrow fairways, lots of water. Friendly staff. Confusing to find course due to another Alaqua course. Use gps. Lots of deer/turkey's on course.
the course overall
The course is very beautiful, lots of wildlife and very
challenging. On that note Im a decent golfer with a 8
handicap and love a challenge but this course was to much of one for me. Very wet, no room for error. I only played it twice because I got on a great price but I dont believe I will play this course again unless I have to not one of my favorites.

SHOT MAKER'S WANTED
Although not as long a course as most these days this course is definitely challenging. Small greens and plenty of water with narrow fairways will certainly challenge the unwary. Abounding in natural beauty and set in one of central florida's
upscale communities with much wildlife the golfer will be lulled into a trance like complacency prior to hooking his ball into the water. It is suggested to bring extra balls.
This is a geat layout!
The course had a ton of rain the day before we played so it was cart path only and the course was very wet and muddy. The weather was cool, 58 F, and windy, 20 mph, but we still had a good round. The course is such a beautiful layout with scenic views and many species of wildlife everywhere. The pace of play was excellent and our foursome finished in just under 4 hours. I will play this course again hopefully, in much better weather.
Bad Condition
The course was in bad shape after all the rain all week. Was not fun playing golf and hitting a ball and getting mud all over you. I have played there before was a great condition. But not yesterday I would have ask for a rain check because of conditions.
Great course but wet
Sadly most of the course was subject to standing water of some degree. The greens however were playable and it was clear to the handful of us who braved the rain that this is a beautiful and challenging course set in a great location. Hope to play it again when it hasn't suffered from a period of prolonged rain?
Good but wet
The work being done on the course is` not disruptive. Conditions underfoot were very wet-much moreso than other courses we have played. the fairways were in good condition despite the wetness. Traps were good. Greens were good, but I thought there was a` lack of care in the way some were cut.. The surroundings are very beautiful, and we will visit again.
great course, good value
Very challenging course. You need to play a few times to know where to try and put your ball.
Lot of water and woods. Greens are always in good shape.
Does not drain well so if it has rained, be careful…cart path only and soggy.
Lastly, bring extra balls.
great time
We were leaving Kissimmee to spend a day in Daytona and played Alaqua to break up the ride. GREAT CHOICE, nice layout, good mix of holes. Will play again when in the area.
Enjoyable first round.
Plenty of doglegs, fair amount of water in play, greens and fairways great. Staff very friendly. Bring your a game to keep it in play off the tee
Really nice layout
Gary Player really designed a nice course here. Very few holes that do not challenge. Lots of water comes in to play. Some tight fairways (not all but some). Course is undergoing some renovations but is still very playable. I played 36 holes because their was hardly anyone out here today. Smaller greens than I expected but that is okay. Really nice drive from the front gate to the clubhouse - lots of beautiful homes. Enjoy!
Pace of Play....yikes
Let me start by saying that i gave this course a second chance a few weeks ago and it was alot better. My first experience..not so much. We played on a friday afternoon right after xmas and the course had fivesomes and sixsomes out playing. Needless to say me and my parter were not pleased. Being a private club and people home or visiting for the holidays there was no golf etiquette concerning pace of play put forth by many of the players and no ranger to keep things moving. Course was in great shape, but if it takes me 5 plus hours to play around i better be at Augusta or Pebble.
Top spot for work outing!
We went to Alaqua for a work outing and it was a perfect spot to relax, drink beers from the beverage cart and smoke cigars. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely would return!
Cool Track
Love the layout here. Tricky, a lot of water...Only downfall is 2 holes are under repair (which obviously won't always be that way). Great price value here!
Tight & Unforgiving
Most of the reviews I read about Alaqua miss the obvious: THERE IS NOWHERE TO HIT THE BALL. It looks like the course was an afterthought after the houses were built. Each hole is built on a knife-edge requiring a drive to a precise spot, otherwise retee because you are in the woods or in a lake. Not a course for an amateur, and the pros have better tracks than this. The tiny tees are piles of pushed up dirt. Public not very welcome.
Well worth the price
I have played this course probably 4 times now, it has always been in good shape. The greens are pretty small and this time were extremely slow which is not the norm. The course has some challenging holes on it that makes it fun, with some great wildlife that you will see throughout the course.
If this course was closer to my house I would play it a lot more often.
Must Play!
The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The course was in excellent condition. This is a must play in Orlando.
Great setting
This course is in a very nice area and the course itself is in nice shape. Its challenging from the very first hole. Tight fairways and small greens. A few very nice holes and well worth a visit.
interesting coarse
I was pleasantly surprised, although not a long course, several holes were tight, found myself hitting a lot of 3 woods of the tee, staff were pleasant, the wildlife was amazing, deer everywhere, alligators in the ponds. I would recommend this course.
