Alaqua Country Club

About
Alaqua Country Club was designed by golf legend Gary Player and opened in 1988. Player put his personal stamp on the private 18-hole golf course, with its elevated tees and other features that make it playable for his level of golfer as well as high handicappers.
Alaqua Country Club leads off with a 501-yard par-5 hole, a picturesque tee shot from an elevated tee. There is water on the left all the way to the green and a wooded area on the right. The fairway narrows the last 50 yards to the green.
The golf course measures 6,662 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3, and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass

Nice track great value
Have played this course several times and have always been pleased with the condition of the course and the value for the $$. Plays pretty straight forward without too many quirks and depending on pin placement the greens can be challenging. Could be longer but well worth the time to play it. Great wildlife views including deer, turkeys and eagles. Houses aren't too shabby either!
Busy day at the course
Course was extremely busy that day, we had to wait just to get a golf cart for our group, yet they were letting singles take carts out. The pace of play wasn't too bad for being busy though, we had normal waits behind a foursome in front of us. Other than that, course was great, greens were good and plenty of wildlife around as always. Great value for the hot rate deal!
Course in Nice Condition despite Ongoing Construction
Booked our tee time via phone using a rain check from prior booking that was rained out. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Began play from 10th tee due to construction. Come prepared not to see the clubhouse again until after round is finished since 18th and 1st holes are not near there.
#10 is shortened due to the construction and average hitters will have some difficulty with the very narrow landing zone bordered by a lake on the Left and ball eating vegetation on the Right. I chose to have the veggies eat my ball. LOL
#18 has a new green surrounded by water. Beautiful hole, but does not match my GPS leading us to misjudge the distance to the hole.
Fairways and Greens have been reseeded but are now fully recovered. Noticed some areas of soft ground, but that should be expected given the proximity of the water table.
Our only complaint is being behind a senior twosome who insisted on hitting from the Black tees even though their abilities were far from Championship caliber.
All in all a very nice day. Would recommend to you. I will play this course again.
Great course
I like this course very much. Very well maintained and a great deal from golf now. They are doing some construction around the area. But it didn't really effect the play. Had some slower people playing from tees that were outside there skill level. But we managed to get around then after a while. Over all I would recommend playing here.
Nice course.
Course was in fairly good condition. Good value for the money although it is a bit out of the way.
Challenging and wild
Course was wet almost everywhere and based on proximity to the Wekiva and adjacent swampland it will be a chronic condition. Tight and plenty of ball-eating hazards. Saw at least 3 gators but no bears. Lady had just been mauled by a bear the day before in adjacent neighborhood.
course has great wildlife
Course was in pretty good shape. Greens look pretty good but run a little slow. Seems like there were deer on every hole. Overall a nice course with some nice golf shots.
Great wildlife!
Deer, gators and turkeys saw it all.
Course was very wet, but playable. Enjoyable day out!
Starter did his job well.
The cart guy on hole 18 is distracting waiting to clean your clubs, right by the green.
This course is beautiful
The course is in great condition, lovely dining room, and as the name implies, lots of water.
excellent and challenging course
greens were slower then expected, some holes were over saturated and roped off from carts, back tees did not look like they had been cut, did not understand drain hole on I think 17 on the left up by the hole, but overall very nice course, short @ 6300 from the tips, it did have some very enjoyable wildlife (deer alligators)
very nice
The staff is great and the condition of the course was great. There was slme construction but did not pose a problem.
Lovely Track; Being Re-Seeded
Alaqua CC is a beautiful setting with Deer and other wildlife.
It is a very challenging track with lots of water and sand hazards including an island green.
Unfortunately the course was being re-seeded when we played which means that the fairways were cordoned off entirely leaving you with a considerable hike with multiple clubs and GPS in hand should your ball happened to be on the opposite side. This also means that the greens were very slow.
I would like to play the course again once re-seeding is completed. It was none the less a very enjoyable, if challenging experience.
Good Experience
Overall our experience was good at Alaqua.
The course was challenging; didn't use the Driver much due to slim fairways and numerous water hazards.
The course was a bit wet due to rains that occurred during the two days prior to play. Greens were a bit shaggy due to inability to cut due to said rain.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Challenging and enjoyable course.
I Always have fun playing this course. The course is challenging but enjoyable. The course is well maintained and the greens are in good condition. I think this one of the best value in the area.
Beware
I showed up 15 minutes before my tee time.
They checked me in.
Drove uo to first the tee was 4 foresomes everywhere no starter.
Total Chaos.
3 giuys in pro shop nobody cares.
What good in any track if they dont honor a tee time..
Nice course for the money
I enjoyed playing the course. Not only were there many challenging holes but the scenery was nice and the wild life was abundant. All in all it was a an excellent experience that I will recommend to others.
Very nice back nine…once you find it
Snuck out on Alaqua for the first time after a very wet morning and found a golf property that seems "under construction" in many spots, yet was also very enjoyable to play. Short Par 3's and Par 4's offset by fairly placed water hazards and heavy trees that border many holes. While signage could be much better directing players from the short Par 3 9th to the tee at the Par 4 10th (HINT: It is tucked in just right of the driving range/lake), this hole starts a very nice back side with plenty of elevated tees and scoring opportunities. Despite all the rain, the course seemed to hold water well and still played very fair. And there are an amazing amount of deer roaming the property, yet they never seem to be on a cart path or fairway.
great course great cond.
welcomed when you walk in pro shop. when going out to play told hope you enjoy your round.
Good for the price
The course was fairly challenging and fairly well-maintained. Very narrow, with lots of wilderness and water. Also lots of deer and other wildlife. The upkeep on the course was mostly fair, though the greens had the occasional crabgrass, and the signage on the cart paths could use some work. I believe this course was just bought, so I hope that means the overall presentation will improve, since this course has a lot of potential. For the low price, however, it was very nice if you don't mind a challenge.
great course... strange enough get a time when UF is playing and it will be deserted.
Fun course to play. Challenging but fair. It just went public so people end up taking some time playing their shots. Should get better as either they get used to the course or run out of money buying balls. Bring a dozen!
