Moorpark Country Club - The Canyon Crest Golf Course

Beautiful and Difficult; But worth every second on every hole:

Review is for Canyon/Ridgeline. This is one of my favorite courses to play. The course was in very good shape. Tees and fairways in great shape, rough was thick and lush. Greens were recovering nicely very soft and slow. Like some reviewers have said bring lots of balls just to be on the safe side. The practice facilities are great as well.

Moorpark Country Club lets you feel like a well heeled person. The course feels like a private course because it really is. But anyone can play there. Beautiful course, I felt like I was at a PGA tour course. Challenging for sure, Moorpark C.C. is not for sissies. If you have game give it a try. If you don't have game bring LOTS of golf balls.

This is an extremely difficult golf course designed such that you either hit the fairway or you are out-of-play. I had multiple shots where I thought I hit the center of the fairway and end up with a lost ball or in deep trouble. Many of the fairways are set up as blind shots where you cannot see where your ball went even with a perfectly executed swing or whether you just clobbered someone without realizing it. This is a golf course that maintains the pretense of being high end and full service, yet when I went into the clubhouse to finish my round by having dinner and a few beers, both the bar and dining room were closed to golfers in order to accommodate an outside event. When I complained, the staff was snooty and unresponsive... in other words these guys don't much care about golfers or whether they enjoy their experience - they just care about extracting a lot of cash from them. I will never play this course again.

The fairways and greens were in great shape. There was no one pushing us from behind, and we only had to wait a short while on a couple of holes for the group in front. Overall, Moorpark is probably the best course in Ventura County that the public can play.

had a very fun and enjoyable game. really want to play again the next day. course is open and natural, design is good for all levels of golfers, there is good and playable challenges, not penalising ! highly recommended for golfers who are tired of flat link course, lots of cliff, creek... but you will enjoy it.

Got a great deal on GolfNow for $39 at noon on a Monday. It was in the 40's and very windy, so there was almost nobody on the course so we played in just over 3 hours.

Great course. Challenging but fair. It's not a links course, so if you are having a particularly bad day swinging the sticks, you can lose a lot of golf balls. And there are a few holes with significant carry to make the fairway, so short hitters can be penalized there.

Overall, the clubhouse if fantastic, the course is excellent, good driving range, beautiful views. I'll be returned as often as GolfNow offers a deal there.

A must play if you´re in the area, one of the best and fun courses to play without being ruined, the course was in excellent condition and most of the holes offered very beatiful surroundings.

Private feel, which memberships are available, but open to the public. The Course is well maintained, and the restaurant in the club house is top notch. Got matched up with 3 nice guys and had a great round. Will definitely be back.

There is a reason for the stakes in the fairways guys - aim for them - especially on Ridgeline. Wish the course would give players yardage to these markers.

From driving up to the tees until you drive away from the greens it is a fantastic course. It's not an easy course, but if you can hit it fairly straight ........you'll have a great time.
