We played Franklin Canyon as a threesome at
noon and it played in about 4 hours.
Weather was cold, pace was fine, greens are in
good condition, fairways and rough is groomed by
spotting, typical California (drought).
Staff is friendly.
The course is a combination of flat and hilly
holes with mature trees and good views.
I recommend this course.
We played Franklin Canyon in Hercules as a threesome and finished in about 5 hours.
Greens were in good condition, course was spotty like most Northern California courses.
The course has a number of trees, sand traps, and
native areas that makes it challenging.
Good pub.
Franklin Canyon
A deal for $32 dollars..the course was in nice shape except for the tee boxes, other than that , great!
Franklin Canyon is a mixture of hills and some
flat surfaces, very walkable.
The greens were in good condition, the fairways
were, like most California courses, good but
spotty.
Lots of trees and off surfaces make the course
challenging.
We played at noon as a twosome and finished in
less than four hours.
Franklin Canyon Review
Franklin is not in the best shape, fairway shots find bad lies on areas where the grass is dead. Greens are good and most tee boxes are in good condition.
Franklin Canyon Golf course
Franklin is in fairly good shape considering comparisons to other courses of the same price. The course has fun holes with character, meaning, the holes aren't just straight ahead, they require thought.
this course is nice and improving
the pace of play is usually good but can get slow. the fairways are in good condition. and they are working to improve them. the greens are good, but could use some help from the people that don't repair their ball marks. they should take some time to work the bunkers, most are hard as a rock with less than a quarter of an inch of loss sand. The practice area is nice, and the staff is vary friendly
Course is in good shape
The greens were punched, based on how they’re coming along it’s probably been slightly more than a week. They were a little slow but that was to be expected. Fairways in good shape, overall the price was fair for a nice local course.
I’ve only played this course a couple of times, the staff has been very friendly both in the pro shop and the bar.
great value if you have the time flexibility
course in good shape and not too crowded. I was between two foursomes but moved along and played two balls when stalled Since i'm retired i can pick the "hot deals" which are great, nice scenery
Good course, great staff
Greens are in great shape, just a couple brown areas in the fairways, better to use the water on the greens (smart conservation practices). Enjoyed the round, will definitely be back soon.
Songs The Same For Franklin Canyon
Good parkland course on front nine. Blue tees are a good turn. Holes 11, 13 and 15 are top tier holes. Fairways have mostly grass and a few dry spots, off fairway is dry. They are managing the course well at this time and watering where needed, keeping dry where needed too. Greens are always ok, never too slow, and sometimes very good. The course is good/average for the area, and I play here often enough and for the last 20 years. Would like to see course offer more single golf now times, as it seems there are more for 4 player promos.
Friendly staff and paired with 2 friendly golfers.
Not worth the price
Course conditions were dreadful. Dead spots everywhere, times when you were hitting off of dirt when it should have been 1st cut. Greens rolled true and were smooth but slower than a shag rug.
Tee boxes were dreadful with no flat lie to be found. I won't be back
A Course Worth Playing
I like to play different courses so I play this course maybe twice a year. The fairways were in good shape, bunkers like most courses could use a little more sand but not terrible and the greens were in pretty good shape (people were fixing their divots). Picked a great day to play, started to cool off and had a little breeze. All groups ahead of us were playing at a very nice clip, we finished in 3-1/2 hours, we were a twosome but there were foursomes out there. There are some holes that require you to be pretty precise or you get yourself in trouble. I really like the course and will play it again. P. S. One thing I try and tell myself is that these are not golf resorts, we pay a lot less so we can play more often. Resorts have a lot of eye appeal which does nothing for your game. Just a thought when writing a review.
We played as a two some around 11:30, slight
breeze off the bay kept the weather good.
Course is a good condition, particularly the
greens, fast but not too fast.
Good views of surrounding area, no houses, some
farm animals and a local train.
Overall, a good value for the money.
Take nothing for granted
Fortunately I played the day of the eclipse so pace of play was with good quick good greens were in pretty good shape and always a challenge for each hole to think of what you're going to hit
