Franklin Canyon GC
Staff greeted us with a smile and a hello. Course condition ok but water doesn't drain very well. Greens were in good shape. The only gripe that I have with this course is there's too many twosomes on the course. Why not pair them up to improve the pace of play? Other courses do.
course is in great condition
The fairways were in great shape. The greens were very nice. The guy( I think Randy) working at the pro shop was very friendly. A course in great condition and a friendly staff usually makes for a great day of golf, and this was!
upgraded
new ownership...upgrades in progress. great value...a moderately tough course. good for the average golfer.
Never again.
It's obviouse that all of the glowing, 5 star reviews have been done by the mens club!!! but if you have never played here and are NOT retired with nothing else to do? play somewhere else! This course is in very bad shape. Pace of play is a joke. Greens are spongy and slow…at best, fairways are half dead grass and weeds, and the tee boxes are the worst I have seen. The cart we were given was on its last legs from the very first tee. The score cards are paper…..PAPER!!!! really?? We were told American Golf no longer manages the course, thats fine, but the overall conditions make it obvious that there is NO management at all. This use to be a descent place to play, but judging by our last experience, we will NOT be back.
A good afternoon.
The fairways were good, which is an improvement.
The greens were very good: only a few ballmarks, smooth, and true.
I was disappointed that there were some tees that were still closed. The tees that were redone look like they may be stressed.
The folks in the shop were friendly and helpful, as always.
It was an enjoyable round.
Vic's Franklin Review
This was an excellent golf course. The greens are well kept and putted well. The fairways are well cut. I enjoyed the round very much.
Good Challenge
I play this course every time I am in the Hercules area. This is a fantastic golf course and the staff is helpful and friendly. Thanks again.
Ask Before You Tee
Three tee boxes were under construction and the temporary teeing areas were a joke, was wasn't even mowed down. No warning of this was given on GolfNow or by course staff.
Course itself was very green due to overwatering (wet bunkers with standing water on #4, muddy fairways, holes filled with water).
Pace of play was great on the front 9 and fair on the back 9. Paid full price and was not happy about that.
Good value
Course was in pretty good shape, it was a good deal for $33 but probably wouldn't pay more than that. The course wasn't that exciting but had some good views of the hills in the background.
beautiful lush landscape
very nice coarse with mature trees etc. will play again soon.
Good condition
The course is in good condition. Probably the best I've seen it in a long time.
Good course condition and excellent value
Our tee-off was 6:52 am and it was our first time playing this course. We followed a 3-some and the pace was great, we finished 18 in about 3.5 hours. Excellent course condition for a munipcal course even though a couple of tee decks were under repair and had to move up the tee. Greens are undulating and challenging to putt. Overall I highly recommend this course.
Ehhh
This course was ok. Some holes couldn't tell the difference in greens and fairways. Also they have a few holes that the tee boxes are moved up making the holes pointless
Easter at Franklin Canyon
The pace of play was pretty slow considering that it was Easter Sunday. The groups that were out there were two player groups and it was still slow. There was a course marshal but he did not maintain pace of play. It gets slow out here on the weekends.
Worst Day ever
After waking up at 4:45 to make a 6:28 tee time, we, along with about 10 other fellas were rudely disappointed, when NO ONE showed up to open the pro-shop! Yes, No one showed up at the course, to work. " I forgot I worked the morning shift" was the excuse we got from the boy answering the phone, later that morning. "well, you could have walked it, then paid later when I got in" Uh, yeah, if I WANTED to walk! Not, "I'm really sorry about that sir, how can we make it up to you? When I was told that the "Manager" Jake, would call me back, I got no response at all. Still haven't. My company was thinking about having a tournament this summer, guess where were NOT having it? Glad this happened now, and not when 72 other players were with me. Who runs a business like this???
Better than before
Past experience at Franklin Canyon has not been as good, as they used to book tee times too close together...everyone sits around waiting.
Better experience than before.
Top-Notch, Top-Notch!
My guest and I were very pleased with our round at Franklin Canyon! The shop attendant was great and the course was in the best shape I've seen it in a long time!
awesome
The greens always throw me through a loop, the fairways are awesome, bunkers could be groomed a tad better, tee boxes could use some re-sodding. Other than that, I would play here everyday if I could. 4.5 stars
Pl;ease inform us
Last Sunday we played Franklin Canyon, a course that we play often and enjoy. On the particular Sunday, they failed to inform us an a number of issues. Plugged and sanded greens, multiple temporary tee boxes, allowing nine hole golfers to cut in between 18 hole golfers. I know that the course repairs are necessary, but we should be informed so we can decide to play there or wait for more favorable conditions.
Would have been nice to know they were Air Raiding Greens
Love Franklin, play it on my birthday every yr, however this last time, after shopping around tee times in East Bay we settled on Franklin because it wasnt far and was reasonably priced and no adverse conditions were stated on GolfNpw. However when we got to the course they informed us that they were Air Raiding greens and greens where "heavily saturated with sand" and no discount or even apology for the mis information was applied. We payed and played anyways but greens where terrible..being that we payed for non air raided greens you would think Franklin and/or GolfNow would do something, no compensation needed, just make sure to get it right next time.
