Golfer Reviews
A course with character
Brought a visiting golfer from Salt Lake City and it was a hit. He enjoyed the variety of different holes and saw how the course could be if it were allowed to give it mire watering. Had a great time!
course has great fairways
The course was excellent.has a lot to offer to all players.will definitely play again when i;m in area.
Good Experience
Just getting back to golf after a 15year layoff. Had not played FC in @17+ years. Found it to be in good condition despite the drought. The course was busy, but the round was only @4 hours and 25 minutes, despite my frequent errant shots. Will definitely return.
Fun course
A good challenge but not too difficult. Scenic and in good shape. Fairways are green in spite of drought.

Great Round
My afternoon round of golf was great. The course was is good shape and the greens were rolling nicely. Definitely one of my favorite courses to play.
Ok case course considering the drought. management could use a bucket of white and red paint to mark the yardage in the cart paths. a place to play
Low expectations , no better on results. Needs a grounds superintendent who can maximize this courses' potential. Course is tired ,and recognize dry conditions as part of drought. Suggest management looks at Bennett Valley, Rancho Solano ,and Teal Bend on how to condition a course. Probably won't play again, no reason to.
Great shape
First group to go out and still took 4+ hours to finish due to overbooked back 9. Other than that great green conditions considering the drought and fairways were nice as well.
Course was in good condition greens rolled well
Playing this course for 30 plus years, always count on Franklin to be a well kept course ruff cut consistent and hard greens that bite..
Great Day at The Canyon
Excellent course conditions, especially for this time of year.
The price is EXCELLENT as well. With other East Bay Area course asking for $40+ ( and many of them that's walking rate on Golf Now), one would expect a full Franklin Canyon. But it was not. We were even behind a group of Super-seniors with one senior gal who was walking w/ a motor cart. We still completed the round in just over 4 hours.
no two holes alike
the course is fun no two holes alike up hill 5 pars down hill 3 pars you will use all the clubs in your bag with the water shortage the course was in great shape greens in great shape I want to go back soon
Fun for a quick round
I was traveling in SF and on a whim decided to play with 2 friends at Franklin Canyon. We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday morning round. Course played pretty easy due to the favorable wind conditions. Greens were average at best, but I can't really complain given how dry the conditions have been in the area. Overall, I enjoyed the day and would go back if I'm in the SF/Berkeley area again.
Franklin Canyon GC
Staff greeted us with a smile and a hello. Course condition ok but water doesn't drain very well. Greens were in good shape. The only gripe that I have with this course is there's too many twosomes on the course. Why not pair them up to improve the pace of play? Other courses do.
course is in great condition
The fairways were in great shape. The greens were very nice. The guy( I think Randy) working at the pro shop was very friendly. A course in great condition and a friendly staff usually makes for a great day of golf, and this was!
Never again.
It's obviouse that all of the glowing, 5 star reviews have been done by the mens club!!! but if you have never played here and are NOT retired with nothing else to do? play somewhere else! This course is in very bad shape. Pace of play is a joke. Greens are spongy and slow…at best, fairways are half dead grass and weeds, and the tee boxes are the worst I have seen. The cart we were given was on its last legs from the very first tee. The score cards are paper…..PAPER!!!! really?? We were told American Golf no longer manages the course, thats fine, but the overall conditions make it obvious that there is NO management at all. This use to be a descent place to play, but judging by our last experience, we will NOT be back.
A good afternoon.
The fairways were good, which is an improvement.
The greens were very good: only a few ballmarks, smooth, and true.
I was disappointed that there were some tees that were still closed. The tees that were redone look like they may be stressed.
The folks in the shop were friendly and helpful, as always.
It was an enjoyable round.
Vic's Franklin Review
This was an excellent golf course. The greens are well kept and putted well. The fairways are well cut. I enjoyed the round very much.
