About
Windy Harbor Golf Club is a military golf course located at the Mayport Naval Station, it was formerly known as the Mayport Golf Club. The seaside course now takes its name from the blustery ocean breezes that sweep through the back nine. The golf course is narrow with tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens that are slightly sloped. There is also a defined cut of rough beside every fairway. Greenside bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole make the course challenging for players of all abilities. Windy Harbor Golf Club also has practice facilities for golfers to use that include a driving range with grass and carpeted practice tees, a practice sand trap, and a large putting green.

Great Conditions
We were very impressed with overall conditions. Condition and pace of play were excellent! The layout is great since the front nine and back nine are different (both great but back nine has windier conditions near the coast).
Got rained out after 9 holes but course is in great shape as always.
It's worth the hassle to obtain a security clearance ID card
When I played it in early July, the course was in great shape. The fairways and greens looked good, with minimal bare spots.

Pace of play issue
I’ll preface this by saying I’m a big fan of Mayport’s golf course and everything about it. The new golf carts are great. That said yesterday I had the unfortunate experience of playing behind a foursome of men that I’m still shaking and trying to get my head around. Our schedule round was a 4 some but had either 2 no shows or they were let out early to tee off. Anyway we’re a twosome and we wait to tee off. The group in front has a complete 1 hole open. By the time they finish the first hole the group in front of them is hitting their 2nd shot on the third hole. We wait on every tee box and wait in every fairway to hit second shots. After nine we are both at the tenth tee when one of them states “ you behind us all day”??? And I hit 8 of 9 greens in regulation you moron. There is now 1 almost 2 open holes. I was stunned that we were not invited to play through but we were not. Waited every tee box and every shot the entire back nine. Would have been nice to have a course range out there.
