Windy Harbor Golf Club
About
Windy Harbor Golf Club is a military golf course located at the Mayport Naval Station, it was formerly known as the Mayport Golf Club. The seaside course now takes its name from the blustery ocean breezes that sweep through the back nine. The golf course is narrow with tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens that are slightly sloped. There is also a defined cut of rough beside every fairway. Greenside bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole make the course challenging for players of all abilities. Windy Harbor Golf Club also has practice facilities for golfers to use that include a driving range with grass and carpeted practice tees, a practice sand trap, and a large putting green.

The greens are great
Very nice and fun course. The greens are great. Never to many people playing during the weeks
Being on a Military Base it is necessary to obtain a background check at a cost of $ 15.00. You will obtain an I D card and a car pass that will allo
This is a very nice open and forgiving course that you will enjoy playing. For a Military Base they do a very nice job on maintainence and have a nice well stocked Pro shop (Tax Free). There is also a nice restaurant connected to the Pro shop and have nice meals for breakfast & lunch. The fee for golf is very good on your pocket book too! A cart girl will take care of you're needs on the course. You will surely enjoy playing this course and will return to play again.
Easy to play. Back nine offers long, wide fairways. Play can be slow - no rangers.
Generally well maintained. Greens in nice condition. Make sure you identify yourself as GolfNow customer when checking in with starter. Starter offered us an earlier tee time, and then pro shop told us that since we were GolfNow, we could only golf at the assigned time due to pricing policy. A bit of miscommunication before we even got on the course. There aren't any rangers on the course, so you can easily get stuck behind golfers with slow play or hitting extra balls during play.
Great Military Course
Course was in great condition considering all of the rain lately. First time playing there, but was very impressed. The best Military course I have ever played and I spent 26 years in service.
Great staff; very friendly and helpful.
Good breakfast and lunch and NOT private club priced. I will definitely return to Windy Harbor.
Sporty layout, always in excellent shape
I can't give it 5 stars because it just isn't Augusta National or ready for a U.S. Open, BUT it is almost always in excellent condition and fun to play. Wind adds greatly to it's challenge and interest. Greens are medium speed, but since they don't roll them, scalp them and starve them of water, they always have a nice grass cover and roll true.
Course is in great condition
Greens are perfect, course is maintained very nicely. Great value and friendly staff.
Windy Harbor Doesn't Disappoint
Windy Harbor Golf Club, located on Naval Station Mayport is a great example of a club that combines a laid back atmosphere, interesting layout and affordability to produce an above-average golfing experience. That is, if you can get there. To play, you’ll need a military ID or a buddy who has one. Unless you are active duty or retired, good luck, but maybe this review will provide some incentive to befriend a soldier, sailor or airman so you can take advantage of military courses.

Good course
Well maintained and pace of play is usually good. Cart girls very friendly & attentive.
Fun course
I had not played this course since the mid 90's. the renovations made in 2000 have changed the routing and playability of this course dramatically. Though it remains a relatively short course, there are still some long par 4's that play into the prevailing winds to give the average golfer quite a challenge in reaching the greens in regulation. I found the course to be in fairly good condition as opposed to when I played on active duty. The fairways are lush and full and the greens provide a smooth putting surface with true rolls. If you haven't played Mayport in a while, I hardily recommend giving it a try. I think that you will like it.
Well maintained, enjoyable course.
Only negative is the condition of most of the bunkers. New sand is badly needed. However, greens are A + and relatively user friendly.
Great course got the price. Plenty of water to play over and elevated greens
A fun course to play for any skill level. Now that I have my MWR card I look forward to playing the course more often. The course restaurant Bogeys has great food for a great price.
Some holes were volcanos, ball would not go in, this needs attention. The cost of playing is great benefit for Military retirees. OUT.
Enjoyable, second time played, will return. Play was slow because of number of people playing almost every cart was out on course. Perhaps this is a common Saturday event.
Money well spent for a round @ Windy Harbor
Greens in great shape. The course was fun to play and a good time was had by all!
Great value! Course in good shape.
Overall, an excellent value. Nice design and well maintained. Well worth the hassle of getting an MWR card if you're not associated with the military.
Great Course!
Over all I did enjoy the course. Some of the fairways need better grass, the greens were in fine shape. The people and the food inside were very good. Golf Carts worked well. Also, I would certainly play there again. I would advise others to play there.
Great course always in great shape
Windy Harbor is always in immaculate shape and plays as a very fair and challenging beach course.Price is a great deal with it never being over 30 dollars even on weekend play.On this day I payed 11 dollars for 18 holes, where else can you get that kind of deal?
A few holes are pretty challenging, but overall it's a fair course
The only problem is access to the course for some folks (it's in a military base), not for me, and at times there are very slow groups. The driving range is short and many times they limit it to hitting irons only.
The course has a good layout.
I like this course very much. It is well maintained, the staff is friendly and the pro shop is well stocked.
Did not know
did not realize that resturant closed at 3PM??? seems very early. also greens needed to be trimmed they were very slow.

This is a great course, well maintained and great greens. As a local with so many choices, this is my course. What really makes this facility stand special are the people, from staff to the players that find it and whom I have met and enjoyed.
