About
Windy Harbor Golf Club is a military golf course located at the Mayport Naval Station, it was formerly known as the Mayport Golf Club. The seaside course now takes its name from the blustery ocean breezes that sweep through the back nine. The golf course is narrow with tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens that are slightly sloped. There is also a defined cut of rough beside every fairway. Greenside bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole make the course challenging for players of all abilities. Windy Harbor Golf Club also has practice facilities for golfers to use that include a driving range with grass and carpeted practice tees, a practice sand trap, and a large putting green.

Golfer Reviews
Great course for the price
We really like this course! The conditions are always good and the price is unbeatable. Greens are always in good condition. Pace of play can be slow since this is on the navy base. Great food at the clubhouse and the carts have coolers!!!
Good Bang for the Buck
This is a nice little "muni" style course. They have some great rates on the weekdays, making this a good value for the price. The course is only about 6300 yards, but is quite enjoyable. Right now the greens are over-seeded and are in better condition than other courses I have played in the area. The course does get soggy, so going after a rain can be messy. Also, you need your MWR card.
Chance to play
It had rained the day before. Number one was cart path only and others very damp but playable. It was windy which added to the difficulty. We had a good and enjoyable round.
A real bargain
The course is in better shape than any course I've played this fall. People were friendly & although busy, play moved well. The course lives up to it's name, especially when the sea breeze kicks in.
If you don't have your MWR card it will be well worth your efforts to get one. You can't beat Last minute Golfer's (Golf Now) price. $10,00 for 18 holes with cart is a true bargain.
Great pricing on golf now.
Course is in excellent condition and great place to play.
My goto course
Great course and accordingly, my goto.
FYI for management attention (simlple points):
1) trouble spots with pace of play need to be addressed. One beginner twosome can slow down 17 groups of play making for a bad day of golf. The message usually gets to the shop pretty quickly but action seems absent.
2) absolutely no fivesomes please!
3) beverage cart service is random and on a 98 degree Saturday afternoon can mean serious dehydration and heat exhaustion. To that, the water stations are also random and not secured by lock. I did witness a player accessing the water container, removing the lid and dipping his cup and hand into the container to get ice.
4) bathrooms in and outside of clubhouse- very sub par for any facility, maybe compare to a state road gas station.
Positives otherwise way outweigh all of the above, I love the place.
Great course
Fantastic course for the price. Greens were in great shape.
Best golf value in town
Course is in great shape. Played with the Golf Now rate an this is by far the best value for the money of any course (public or private) in Jacksonville.
good time
Fairways wide and grass short, greens excellent. T boxes in good shape.distance markers appear accurate. hole hints on scorecard.
Very nice course.
The course staff was kind. The course itself was very clean and cut. Some of the holes although, were confusing at times. The maps on the sculptures did not help as much.
Some of the players were stating that they should put up some type of netting by the back 9. And maybe a small fence around that pond with the gator.
All in all I will definitely golf a few times a month or when I get a chance! The price was very good !!
Great course for all levels
Course is in the best shape i have ever seen it in.
Greens were fast and true.
There is always some wind that makes play very interesting at times.
Nice ocean breezes.
Course is in wonderful condition and on a hot day there are wonderful ocean breezes to cool you off.
A great day!
The course Is in good shape, the greens are nice! We play once or twice a week, the course is not easy or difficult. I play around at different courses, for the price Windy Habour is great. Try to avoid the peak hours, slow play is the weekend norm.
Windy Harbor
It's named this for a reason. The course was in "fine" shape and the price was great! Well worth it and it's a definite on my list whenever I'm in town.
Very busy
I enjoyed the round. The weather was sunny and the course dry so I got some roll. Some holes are a challenge but there are areas to bail out. There were a lot of people so the pace of play was slower than I expected for a Friday. You need a special pass obtained ahead of time to get through the gate but I had no delay using it.
Value!!!!
For the money... Can't beat it. Most DOD courses are well maintained. Thanks for a great trip
Third Class
The staff makes GolfNow golfers feel like third class citizens. No early start, tee off on your tee time only, although others can go ahead. It was a beautiful sun shiny day and No beverage cart on the course. There was no Marshall on the course and we played the back 9 behind a 5some. The course needs some serious TLC, we did play early season but it was in less than desirable condition. I have played many military courses and this was just below middle of the pack maybe beginning of bottom of the list.
Really enjoy playing this course with a great layout.
Lots of positives and only one small negative. Great course with lots of great people who golf at this course. Layout is good and weather is mostly good and pretty windy thus the name, Windy Harbor! The small negative comes if your playing thru golfnow. The original starter was not as accomadating although when they changed the starter, it got much better. Not really a big deal but I couldn't help but noticing this. But all in all it's a great place to play golf with great group of golfers..
Excellent course for the money
It was a windy day at "Windy" Harbor. The course was in very good condition after having absorbed quite a bit of rainfall earlier in the week. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
