Nick Faldo brings his exacting, often critical eye to West Coast golf for the first time at this Shadow Ridge Golf Course in Palm Desert. Faldo wanted a design that forced a ton of strategic choices and the architect team of Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt delivered for him.

Ten of Shadow Ridge's 18 holes are doglegs. The towering Santa Rosa Mountains serve as backdrop. The tall native tawny grasses contrasts sharply with the white sand bunkering. But it's the golf choices that are likely to seize your attention at this 7,006-yard, par-71 course.
The finish alone is enough to rattle an average golfer to the bone. No. 17 is a 157-yard par 3 that puts the wind in your face and nothing but trouble straight ahead. There's a lake to carry, deep bunkers and a green that slants left to right like a wayward chalkboard. No. 18, a 446-yard par-4, places both a stream and big fairway bunkers right in the straightest path to the green.
"The fairways are generous and the bunkering style is bold," Faldo said. "And the greens have plenty of subtle undulations that reward and encourage a variety of approach shots."

Perfect exoerience
Have to accept that great golf in Palm spring is at least $200…
But better then pga west, better than Indian Wells. Way better than Desert Springs.
Really the best resort course in the desert.
Shadow Ridge golf fun.
Nice layout, great golf carts, nicely treed course in a desert environment, very good greens.
Friendly
Shadow Ridge staff were extremely friendly and offered valuable advice.
The practice facility is second to none with great areas for all parts of your game.
We really enjoyed the layout and would come back again.
Excellent condition and fun course
Fairways and greens are in excellent condition.Greens are tough to read. Love to playing here. I highly recommend this course if you are visiting the desert. You won’t be disappoint .
Beautiful Course
This is one of my favorite courses in the Palm Desert area. Conditions were great. Pace of play was so slow but it was on Saturday before Christmas so it’s expected. Otherwise it was a great time.
Good condition and Nice course
Excellent condition but green are little slow. After overseeing green need time to grow.
One of my favourite course in the desert. Course layout are very nice and fun. I already played 3 rounds of golf here . This golf course is far way better than the other 2 courses . A must play this course when you visit Palm Springs. Staffs are very friendly and helpful too.

Overall pace of play was great. Fun, fair layout. We had really nice day.
Nice course but slow pace of play
Nice course, friendly staff but the pace of play was slow. Never saw a Marshall to speed up play and we had a 5 some in front of us. Not sure we will play here again due to slow pace of play
Beautiful course
Lush green fairways rough is not too thick beautiful greens course layout is great lots of sand traps but fairly easy to get out off one of the nicest courses we played souring out two week stay
