Disappointed
Played Victoria Lakes at River Ridge several times. Has always been decent, except this time was a major disappointment. Drove over an hour to get there and the greens were unmanageable. Hadn’t been cut or rolled. So bumpy and unevenly grown that the ball couldn’t hold a line even if you hammered it. So poor we had to call off our normal skins bet. Wouldn’t make it back unless the manager reached out and confirms they fixed it.
American golf does it again!
Just pathetic conditions since American golf took over, hold 14-18 weren’t as bad but this used to be such a nice course. Thanks again American golf!
Grass. We don’t need no stinking grass
The only green on the course is the overgrown weeds. The bunkers are solid rock and haven’t seen a racking in years
They take your money but don’t give you much in return
Backup option
The River Ridge courses have gone downhill considerably since American Golf took over management. The greens used to be fast and true. That said, the courses are a good backup option if other local courses are booked up.
Conditions Improving
Played the Vineyard 5/26. Conditions have improved recently. They are finally getting through the mowing and the fairways are better - actually delineated from the rough, and the turf seems to have improved. The grass on the greens is also improved. They are not as splotchy and bumpy, although still very slow. Looks like the grass health is coming around after a rough winter. The traps are still a wasteland. In general course conditions are significantly better than a month ago.
Always a good challenge
River ridge courses are a good challenge. Always fun and pace is usually consistent. A go to course for the group.
Poor conditions
Vinyard course not maintained well, greens were not mowed recently, tee boxes were spotted. Needs to be managed better.
As I had hoped
Some greens were in better condition than others but that could have been because I started so early.
I've heard a lot of negative stories about the course conditions over the past year. I was pleasantly surprised. It is way better than I heard.
The new management has slowed the greens and is working on the fairway conditions. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I will return. The price is good also!
Disappointed
I have been golfing Riverridge for probably 25 years and it was such a beautiful course back in the day. I don’t golf much anymore but when I went out and played last I was embarrassed. I brought a friend with me and I talked about how nice this course is. When we played it was ugly and not the course I was knew. I really hope it’s just from California being in a drought. But the Cowboys field looked great. Maybe take some notes on how to maintain grass from them. Doubt I will play Riverridge anytime soon.

Pace of play wasn't that bad but the conditions of the course were pathetic. Tee boxes, greens and rough were all garbage. I don't write many reviews but needed to flag this one. Whoever manages this course needs to find something else to manage.
Course in pretty bad condition right now
I only expect so much from River Ridge, as it has been in mediocre shape for years now. At least it is priced well. I would only play here if I got a bargain. Even with that caveat current conditions are worse than usual. Fairways are as bad as I can remember (on Vineyard) with all kinds of invasive species growing in the fairways and bare spots abounding. The rough is completely untended. Traps are dirt patches. Greens, which have been reasonably good this winter, are now recently punched and sanded, so they are still a couple weeks from recovering. All in all it was a pretty rough experience and I wouldn't recommend it at least until the greens recover and the one guy on a mower makes it down all 18 fairways.
