Great course
Layout of the course is great, a course that welcomes all golfers, greens were a little bumpy, staff are great.
Good layout. Good value. Greens a little slow. No waiting.
Lots o' fun
1st time playing the Vineyard Course. Lots of fun!
Windy weather after 2pm
Course is great.. evening price is awesome... but those winds will kick your butt in the evenings.. West winds are pretty harsh after 1:30/2 pm. Greens have also been kinda slow lately too.
Great Course
Beautiful course, great staff, great price,, nice atmosphere. Only wish they would allow carts after 2 p.m. . Would play this course repeatedly..
RR Lakes
Walked the Blues (6789/72.5/130) with RGM2525 and a nice couple who quit after 12 holes. Partly cloudy, 1-2 club wind throughout the round and in the low 80's. 4H, 25M POP, we waited from 18 fairway for the 4some in front to vacate the green. Thanks to Ron for setting up the round, always enjoyable to play with Ron!
First time here is 3 years.Overall, this was about as poor as I have ever seen the Lakes course look. Most desert courses I have recently played where the average temp has been 110 for 2 months plus are greener overall than RR Lakes currently is. However, it played alot better than it looked. My numbers will probably be skewed upward because I love the greens here. But if you consistently played here pre American Golf, you can clearly see a difference now that AG has been in place for awhile. Black tees are gone. Black markers removed. The tee boxes that were separate from the Blues they let go and unless you knew where they were, you would be hard pressed to know that there used to be a tee box there. The tees that shared a box with the Blues it looks like they basically just moved the Blue stones back a bit to somewhat split the difference. Greens lush and green looking, rest of the course more golden brownish than green. Traps rough around the edges and not well maintained even though the ones I was in had decent quality sand. Definitely a maintenance downgrade from my memory of RR Lakes pre AG. In others words, exactly what many predicted would happen here after watching AG run other So Cal courses over the decades.
I was planning on walking anyway, but was somewhat shocked to be told that it was walking only, no carts after 2pm?
Bermuda tees, rough and fairways could all be described the same way. Good coverage, but much more thin than lush with brown areas everywhere. Tees okay, Fairways firm with lots of roll. Rough mowed down to good POP level. Fairway bunkers were more hard packed, softer around the greens. Overall, the sand quality was good but the traps were not decently maintained. Fringes/aprons were very lush up to about 5 yards off the green. Mostly poa greens were relatively smooth, lush and green. While slow by what my memory was for a RR Lakes green, they putted like Augusta National compared to the middle of the summer Bermuda greens I have been playing in the desert. Medium fast, I constantly had 4-5' coming back. Struggled with hitting it easy enough after playing on much slower greens recently. Ron prepaid, so quick, efficient check-in. No on course services with COVID-19. The Lakes course is a challenging course to play and to walk. The tee boxes on holes 11, 15 & 18 are a good distance from the last green. 2 big climbs and mostly flat otherwise, but this is not a short course and it's usually windy. No beverage cart today. Recommended, fun layout in playable condition.
Two courses for this facility
Make sure you book the correct course. Website allows you the option to chose but was giving me a bit of trouble.
We played the Lakes for the first time. We definitely prefer the Vineyard course.
Pace of play forward horrible. Waited at every hole although we should never have book a Friday tee time.
Great for the money. Not impressed with the Lakes course.
Always a fun track!!
I love River Ridge. Both sides equally. Considering the current state of the pandemic, being able to go play is always great for me. $30 to walk this course is a great value. The course is not in its best condition but very playable and very fun.
Early morning tee off
Great weather this round. The fairways were trimmed in tip top condition and greens were rolling. Love both courses here.
