Sad
Tee boxes dirt, fairways dead and the greens were uneven, patchy and slow and very inconsistent. Overall they should have paid me to play there!
Everything is great except
Everything is great except the fairways… they’re all yellow … the greens are a little choppy but other than that I had fun. Aesthetically speaking … the holes, the views are awesome but the fairways need work…
PICK another Ventura course
Was looking forward to playing in Ventura summer weather but River Ridge was the wrong course to play. You start the day with no range balls, next you will hit dried up fairways throughout the course and then you will putt on several poor condition greens. All said and done, not worth the price of admission until course gets must needed attention.
Overpriced and Poorly Maintained - A Disappointing Golf Experience
I recently played a round at River Ridge Golf Club - The Victoria Lakes Course, and it was an utterly disappointing experience. Despite the hefty price tag, the course conditions were abysmal. The fairways were extremely dry and poorly maintained, making it nearly impossible to enjoy the game.
To make matters worse, every time the beverage cart came around, it was completely empty. For the amount we paid, one would expect at least basic amenities to be available.
It’s clear that the management does not prioritize the upkeep of the course or the satisfaction of its players. The director’s apparent lack of concern for the state of the course and its patrons is unacceptable.
I would not recommend this course to anyone looking for a decent golfing experience. Save your money and find a course that actually values its players.
Horrible conditions
Traveled over an hour to play in club tourney. Played the lakes course and it is in horrible condition. Fairways are dead, greens are bare and being consumed by weeds, and fairway bunkers are muddy with two looking like ponds. Do not play here until conditions improve. Not worth the money. Staff was pleasant and food was good but that’s about it.

I would not recommend this course right now. It is in a horrible condition. Normally I love playing Victoria Lakes, but the whole course needs attention.
The greens are pretty ragged on the Lakes course
Also the fairway grass is pretty brown. But I love the layout. Needs water!
Pretty Poor Shape Right Now
RR hasn't been in really great shape in years, but right now it's worse than usual. I played Lakes and they haven't watered fairways in many weeks, so a LOT of dead grass. Hitting off it isn't so bad. Kind of like links-style, but disappointing. Supposedly something went wrong with sprinkler system and they are repairing it. This place has recycled water so no excuse not to use it. Both courses are challenging layouts and pretty nice designs. The wind can be a bummer when up on the hill for either 18, but once off the hill holes it calms down. The greens are alive and watered, but in pretty poor condition. The course is playable if you get a good price, but be prepared for rough conditions.
Tough course!
Very long and challenging for first time on this tee. Some double dog legs and a few other things. Overall very fun and will be back for more.
Up keepi needed
Love this course but yesterday was not great. Seems there’s not much up keep of the course. The greens are un-puttable.
Golden Fairways
On the Lakes course, fairways were golden brown with dirt. They are not maintaining course. Several greens were either spongy or eaten by fungi -particularly 9th hole. Very disappointing
Poor Condition of greens
Grass dead on all fairways of the Lakes with some fungus infestation on holes 9 and 10 saw one sprinkler going. A huge leaking huge pumping station next the sister servants of Mary. Dead fish in Lake on between holes 11 and 12. With staff skimmers pulled no our fish. Smell was very bad (bad septic tank) around all of the lakes. Noticed very tall dry weeds between holes 10 and 11 only ten or twelve feet from homes was definitely a fire hazard. The sand traps are like dirt traps and in fact hit a rock while taking a shot. Noticed club face was scratched by rock. It came out funny and saw scratch when I looked it.
I do t think you will continue to get the price at this rate with conditions like this.
Played both courses plenty of times lots of times and loved it. This needs to be corrected
