The Links at Summerly

About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Fun links course
Great track. Tee boxes and greens are good. Most fairways need help. Overall a fun, affordable place to swing the sticks. Will be back next week.
PATHETIC!
Have played here many times in the past, but not for about 3 years. Worst condition I have ever experienced on a golf course (cow pastures are in better shape). Had to look for a patch of weeds to place our balls rather than hitting from hardpan or mud they call fairways. Tee boxes were barely adequate to horrible. Greens were the best part of the course, but not great. No food (used to be a great place to eat) and no water on the course to drink (it was over 100 the day we played). Will never play there again..expect it to close. A shame as layout is great!
Good, fun
I play here often for the excellent layout and experience. This is a links course and is very unique. Tee boxes and greens are very nice. Like 2/3 of the fairways are patchy and need seed. Overall a lot of fun at an incredible value.
Dirt and Rocks
Fairways were basically dirt and rocks. Greens were patchy with dirt and weeds in spots. Paid $52 for cart and round and drove over an hour inland to Lake Elsinore. Won’t be making the trip again. Some tee boxes were in good condition, others like the fairways. Highlight is no one was playing there so pace was great.
Horrible
Don't even think about playing here. It's horrible. Fairways are just straight dirt. With I would have saved my money
The drought
used to be a nice course. half the fairways are gone just dirt. The greens have yellow spots on them. the course could be good if they had fairways. Watch out for rattle snakes
Much Better!
So happy to see this course is improving. It’s nice to play close to home. The greens and tee boxes are in excellent shape. I’ll be back later this week!
Dirt course
Do not play this course. It’s complete dirt and they don’t tell you until after you’ve paid.
Bargain
Fun course, very affordable. Greens roll true. Most fairways are patchy. Overall fun track and great value,
Summerly Review
For those golfers that are accustomed to playing courses that are good condition, you need to disclose that this golf course has no fairways, they are all dirt. We played the course 12 years ago when it first opened and it was in good condition, NOT ANYMORE.
Where's the grass?
The course is a great track but the fairways are dead. The greens are in good shape and the area around the greens are well kept. There isn't any drinking water on the course so be sure to bring your own. The layout is great, just needs some TLC.
Improving, affordable
Happy to see this place is improving, maintenance guys are working. Staff are always kind and welcoming. Bartender is a very nice young lady and has a good selection of beers.. Fairways need work on 2/3 of the holes but still very playable. Greens, approaches, and tee boxes are all looking great. Hopefully fairways improve soon but I'm loving the affordable green fees.
Disappointed
The course is in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it. Surprised I didn’t break a club. Spend money elsewhere. They just need to shut this place down.
Getting better.
The course has been in difficulty for some time now. A year or so they fixed all the tee boxes and they were the best around. Since then the teeing areas are again in trouble. Currently the greens are starting to look good, they are still slow, but in much better shape. The fairways haven’t been good for a number of years. I like the layout, and the pace of play, but I’m not sure if they can ever get everything fixed up at the same time. It’s a good place to get plenty of swings in and not spend all day doing it.
