The Links at Summerly

About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Review of Links at Summerly
Worst course I have ever played. Cannot believe golf now sells green fees there. Had to play off dirt on all the holes. Greens had grass but greens were not in good shape.
A Bomb went off
Course if you can still call it one was all dried up worst course I ever played
Good time
Greens are premiere and roll true. Fairways look dormant, playing fast and firm. Staff are friendly, cart girl has ice cold beer. Will be back this week.
Save your Money
Worst condition to play on, dead grass expert the greens. Save your money and play somewhere else
Worst fairways in SoCal
This course has no fairways, its like playing on a dirt patch from hole 1 to the end. It is so bad that I stopped playing at the 3rd hole and wanted a refund, they told me that they don’t give a refund or rain check. They don’t tell you about the course conditions when you go there, apparently it happened due to some fault because of which they could not water the fairways for months. I will not recommend playing here if you want to play golf. This place is not a golf course, its open field where you can hit balls.
VERY BAD
Do not waste your money playing at this course. This is a golf course with NO GRASS . Feels more like playing a Golf course out of a desert apocalypse movie.
Bargain
I play here multiple times weekly for the fun, challenging play and the bargain green fees. Other courses around are double and triple the cost per round. The fairways are dormant and give you a lot of roll and tight lies. The greens are spectacular. Overall a lot of fun at an incredible value.
This will be your worst round of golf you ever played.
The course is in horrendous shape. Do not waste your money. Any other option is a better choice. It was very very bad.
Greens were in good condition, but there was zero grass on any of the fair ways.
Budget course
Fun track and budget friendly. The layout is unique and gives you a true links experience. Tee boxes and fairways have dormant grass, playing fast and firm. If you can handle tight lies with the long irons you'll have fun. Greens are in premiere condition and roll true. Green surrounds are in excellent condition. As long as your approach shot is on or around the green, you'll be in great shape. At $39 a round, I play here as much as possible.. Bar is open all week long and the cart girl makes her rounds on the weekends and has a good variety of ice cold beers to keep the buzz going.
Cheap price cheap course
I guess you get your moneys worth. I’ve played this course many times, and always in bad shape. Water drainage, a huge problem and many dry spots dead grass.
Ownership has given up
This use to be one of my favorite tracks when it first opened, but the fairway grass was spotty until recently. After all the rains this winter, the course had come back and was in decent shape when I played it a few months ago, but yesterday I was shocked how bad the conditions are.
Fairways and tees are 95% sandy dirt. Looked like they hadn't seen a drop of watering in months. Greens are still decent, but everything else is bad. Traps have zero sand in them, and are more like gravel pits.
Even the range is bad. There were a total of 4 mats on the entire range and they were so lumpy and uneven, it was hard to stop a ball from rolling around long enough to hit it. And speaking of the balls, you have to buy them in the pro shop (instead of the machine that used to be down on the range) and for $11 dollars, you get a medium bucket of balls in the worst condition imaginable. More than half of them had some sort of major damage that most ranges would throw them away.
At least the pace of play was good, as the only people there were also fooled by the green grass pics and the promise of a nice round.
Current ownership has run this place into the ground. So sad.
Mixed feelings....
I love the layout, but it is in terrible shape and poorly marked...sight lines are underwhelming and you ate really guessing off the tee...the greens are in GREAT shape...but it just makes it weird. Over watered and soft greens on an underwatered hard fast course is really odd....but kind of fun because you can throw darts at them...this course could be really great. Guessing the water bill is really holding it back. I will be back though. If you just LOVE golf like I do....3 hour rounds at the price point is great.
Dry Course
I was extremely disappointed at the DRY conditions this course has. There are no GREENS in ANY of the fairways at all, only when you reach your hole and put.
The lack of grass and only dirt hard as cement and small rocks everywhere would damage your clubs in an instant.
Based on the pictures that I saw on the internet, I was drawn to it, but it was just smoked mirrors.
I requested my money back after trying to play 6 holes but was not able to get it.
Summery Desert
Couldn’t tell fairways from the dry rough; we wondered many times which was the actual direction to the holes - the greens where nice to be fair. Clubhouse folks were very nice. Quit at 13.
