Need a new course to play?
I have played this course a handful of times this summer. Found it through a friend.
If you are looking for a fairly straightforward course, but with plenty of right and left turns then this is a good one.
Places to go over the top for the high risk high reward shot are plentiful.
Could be my tenure on the planet, but hole 8 seems to always need an extra club.
Bunkers the only knock here. There are just the right amount of them and in just the right places, but they’re rocks and really you’d be within friendly rules if you pull it out. Seriously, I’m pretty by the book, but no. Trust me.
Greens are true. And some small and the others medium sized. But again, really nice here.
Around the greens for those of us often chipping to save it, all well maintained and good lies to reward a good chip shot.
Tees will make it a different course entirely like most courses. But even more here on some nicely treed holes.
Range is going to look underwhelming. So get behind it now. It’s truly to warm up your swing and body. Use it for that and then head over to Hole No. 1. A simple starting hole that you’ll want to par. So pay attention. Big open fairway doglegs right. I always aim toward the right tree line edge and almost never draw it back to the fairway. But over the trees is an awesome 2nd shot to make to an upward sloping green. So a GIR is almost certainly a par, and a good chip on a 3rd will leave you a good putt for par, too. Small green, for shorter hole so again, make it count right away.
Play it to score. Otherwise, what’s the point. Oh, 18… safe left on the dogleg right, or, go for it over the trees. The willow at the other end is remarkably short.
Play well.
Nice Course
Early start, no waiting on tees, no one pushing us. Weather in the 70's. Great day.
Nice day
Some tee boxes were not level but greens were consistent and smooth.
Fun Cours
Early morning start, great pace of play, birdies to be had.
Excellent Greens; Course in Good Shape
For late summer conditions in early September, River Oaks is in excellent condition. In better condition than many comparable golf courses at this time of year of late summer. There's grass on the fairways and the greens look good and roll well. An excellent value and very enjoyable to play here.
Fun Day
My friend played there 1st time really enjoyed it & will plan to return, it took me an hour to travel & if I catch the right deal will return. Course is in great shape, Some of the tees were not level, overall, loved it..
