Cart return one hour before sunset??
Greens were OK. Fairways and tee boxes need to be improved. We teed off at 1 PM on 2/14 and were on the tee box of 17 at 4:45 PM. A staff member, Andy, approached us and rudely told that we had to stop playing and return the carts right away. He said all carts should be returned by 4:45 but we haven't heard about it from anyone before playing. We thought he was joking because it didn't make sense to return carts one hour before sunset, which is 5:45 PM. When we returned our carts, there were many carts that hadn't been cleaned yet. Instead of bugging players, they could clean up the carts if they want to go home early.
Fun Course at River Oaks
Decent course off the beaten path. A few greens had a couple iffy spots, but pretty good condition overall. Some fallen trees due to recent wind storm. The shop and restaurant were fine, but could be a little nicer for a $50 and up course. The track offered fun challenges, I look forward to giving the course another try with some prior knowledge. Today was my first experience at River Oaks.
Winter conditions
I love the grass range. Greens were great, some tee boxed need to be leveled, some crowning happening. Fairways winter conditions. Fun place but not worth 50 bucks.
River oaks
Little chilly start ..not speaking of my play ..warmed up nicely . I’ve always enjoyed large jet planes which is good because river oaks lies directly under ( glide slope ) for sac metro .. peculiar how often I was set to drive or putt with the noise of the jet engine above me ...a little of a distraction ..that said we will be back the greens are in great condition we enjoyed our time

Excellent
Excellent pace of play, excellent customer service! Fairways were above average for this time of year, will be coming back
Anxious to return....again and again!
I enjoy the experience so much that I always bring friends.
The owner, and check in people are all so welcoming....and the course is a lot of fun to play.......
Thanks for a good time...always!

Beat Expectations
Course was in good condition. Greens were slowish.but balled rolled true and they were green. Great deal, perfect weather helped. Nice challenge from blacks...
Great but...
I do very much enjoy playing this course it’s fairly easy with beautiful greens however they need to do more about bathrooms and hygiene. There is only one out house on the entire course the whole entire back nine has no bathrooms which is great if you’re a man I suppose. however even in the bathrooms that are at the clubhouse there is no soap I’m not sure what the deal is but it’s one of those things where it can make a course kind of not as desirable to play as others
Overall I would still recommend the course to play as I said the maintenance of the course itself is very well-kept it’s good for beginners and for better players definitely will come back but I think there needs to be something done about the bathrooms and the lack of sanitation.
Clear day with good winter sunshine and a little breeze tat made chilly.
Good day for a round of golf in a chilly winter day at 51 degrees at 2 o’clock that made the game extra challenging. Pace of the play was not very good due to overbooked players. Some players, most of them appeared to be out-of-towners, we’re unruly and noisy.
Fairways are narrow, some bunkers are filled with water and there were quite a few unrepaired divots on the greens. Otherwise the course seems to be in good condition relatively. Need to come back when the weather gets better.
Fast round, good value
Every course I’ve played in the Sacramento area the last couple months looks a little rough, and RO is no exception. Bunkers are rather hard, lots of yellow grass on the fairways, etc. The greens, however, are in good shape and still running surprisingly fast considering recent rains. It doesn’t look great, but is very playable.
Whenever I’ve played here it’s been fast and today was no exception - under 4 hours for the round. It’s a very walker-friendly course, which is a big bonus in my mind, and it’s probably the best bang for your buck for weekend golf in this area.
