Miami Shores Country Club, hole 13. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 03/25/2019
Miami Shores CC
Good course but usually immaculate and fast greens were punched and had many dead patches . Was disappointed with that bc these are usually the best greens in Miami
Pace of play and staff
Course itself is good, but the pace of place is horrible and there is not a marshall to keep the pace of play up. During the week it is fine, but it is needed on the weekends!!
The staff in the restaurant and the cart girl charge 18% gratuity to all orders, which I am fine with, but the clubhouse charged me “optional gratuity” of $5 and didn’t say a word. I have never heard of tipping, nor do I feel there is a need to tip $5 or any amount to the clubhouse for just charging me to play a round. I think it is ludicrous and shame on the girls in the clubhouse for charging a hidden “optional gratuity” when paying the green fees and not saying a word.
Below Expectations
Upon reading google saying “Posh country club, 4.5 stars” I decided to play a round.
The positives: Staff was super friendly and personable. The starter was very pleasant. Second positive was the greens, I loved the fast greens and they rolled true, Of course they weren’t perfect and had ball marks to be repaired etc, but it wasn’t terrible.
The negatives: Course layout is horrid. Each hole is next to the other, The tee box is next to the previous green. Elevated greens were challenging with alot of falls front and run off the back. The elevated greens aren’t a negative, but did make scoring a bit tougher. The range placement is terrible. There were 50+ yellow range balls covering hole 1. And on 9, there’s range balls on the tee box etc. I was concerned to get hit by people on the range spraying left and right, The trains running through the course is unfortunate. 3 trains came blasting through which was whatever. Tough to play on the weekends, they had no carts available and we waited 20 minutes to get a cart before going out, Few carts died out there. Dress code wasn’t enforced, People wearing backwards hats and T-shirts. Really wasn’t the “posh” country club I was expecting.
Maybe this place was different 20-30 years ago, but not a course I would play again.
Good course overall, not over the top in terms of difficulty . Seen a few coyotes out there which is a plus . Good local track
Excellent Course
Excellent course, with fair difficulties to play, not long holes. The state is very good. The amburgesas in the hole 19 highly recommended. To improve the bunkers, the non-aerated sand is sufficient.
Enjoyed
Pace of play was slow. Backed up every hole. Tee boxes a little rough. Greens in good shape.
Slowwwwwwwwww
Listen I get it. A lot of people are playing. But having 0 ranger push people along or tight tee times makes this place a black hole of time. Be ready to give your entire day to this place
0 water on the course, saw the cart person and luckily flagged them down
The course is in ok shape.
Everyone in management should be replaced
Had a 5.5 hour round, that’s ludicrous
