Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

18 Terrible Greens
1 foot puts will end up 30 feet behind you. Pin placements and slopes of almost every green were psychotic. Tee boxes look like they were used for 4-wheeling.
Pace of play was tough. 5 hour round. I don’t mind a good challenge. But never coming back. Better to play forest lake or country club of Mt. Dora.
Great greens
The course is not the longest but elevation changes on many holes make it a great challenge. The greens were in great shape and most of them have very tricky slopes. The very dry weather has left the fairways and rough in no so great condition but for the price we had a great value fun round of golf.
Pace of play
Course has a good Iayout. Greens are the courses defense.. Very fast, do not hold and very hard to read. Pace of play was horrendous. Took us 5 hours to play. Greens have some to do with that, but way to many singles and pairs that would not join as a group. Management must make people do that.
First time at Mount Dora
A fun day. We were able to get off in front of a 4 ball and we completed our round in 3 hours. The course was in good condition and the greens small and not easy. We de greened a couple of times.
Although short you have to hit the ball straight and keep out of the trees. A good challenge.
Lots of history here and the plaque outside the club house is a must read.
A good welcome and the Barman/Marshall kept the first tee moving on a very busy day. We hope to get back before the end of our holiday.
Mount Dora Golf Club
The course was in great shape. The greens were fast.
Thanks Chris and all the staff!.
Hidden Gem of Central Florida
Played early around 7:28am and the greens were fast and very smooth right from the start. We caught a well-managed tee sheet, so we weren’t backed up and the pace of play was great all morning.
The layout was a pleasant surprise. There are undulations and elevation changes you don’t see on many Central Florida courses, which makes it more interesting and forces you to think a bit more on your shots. For the price, it’s a really solid value and feels like you’re getting more than what you paid for.
By noon the greens were absolutely rolling, putting as well as some private courses I’ve played. Overall the course was in great shape and clearly well cared for.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quality round at a fair price.
Good for the money
This time of year course prices in central Florida are high. Deals are few. Mt Dora is a decent course for the price. Greens are in excellent shape, as are tee boxes. Greens are small and sloped so it can be a challenge to get the ball to stay on! Fairways are a little rough. This course is walkable if you like this option. There are many nice restaurants in the area, a must for my group!
1945 Style and Privacy
A traditional course that is walkable and enjoyable.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Carts were comfortable. Course was relatively well marked and maintained. A true locals course, but we felt more than welcome.
Highly recommended for a recreational round with some relaxation and subtle challenges that can and will eat your lunch.
Sharpen your short game before heading out!
rough height
The rough at this course, you could be standing right over your ball and not see
Pace of play was poor
We played as a two-some around noon on a Saturday, as did many other groups. We finished the front nine in less than 1.5 hours. Then, for some reason, the back-9 was all jammed up. We waited at most tee boxes for at least five minutes and then another 2-3 minutes on each fairway shot from holes 10-15. THEN the real problem occurred. When we were playing No. 15 we noticed eight carts (four groups) lined up at the No. 16 tee. How could this possibly happen?? All we could guess was that there were at least two four-somes that must have jumped from No. 5 on the front-9 to No. 16. Anyway, we had a 20-minute wait to tee off there. And keep in mind, we saw at least four group quit on the back-9 (starting on No. 12) because of all of this nonsense. The back took us nearly 2.5 hours to complete. They need a ranger or someone out there regulating play, because I have never seen anything like this. The course conditions were "OK," but the greens were the smallest we have played on in years.
A Perfect Taste of Golf Nostalgia
This course is a perfect blast from the past. No houses, elevation changes, friendly staff, ability to ride or walk, and a sneaky golf design. The difficulty is designed into the course by the 3rd rough cut around the greens and the greens themselves. The greens roll perfect, but they slope from back to front, and 16 and 17 greens are more like inverted bowls. We had a fun time and would definitely play this hidden blast from the past again.
One of my favorite course
The course is in good shape and I enjoy playing here, especially during the week when they pace of play is quite good. Very good value for the price.
