Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Old school golf
I’ve played this course before and it’s still in decent shape. The greens were in good shape, but a little slow. Fairways were a little dry. Compared to other courses they have watered the course to keep it reasonably good considering the drought.
This is an old school course with small, domed greens that are difficult to hit and hold.
Gem
Greens roll smooth and true. At 8am with wet greens and they still roll 9+. Fairways, tee boxes, and greens in great condition. Course isn’t the longest but the experience is worth it. Staff friendly. Only downer for me is there is no range.
Definitely worth a return visit!
Fun old course that’s always in decent shape but the greens are small, fast and difficult to hold.
Classic !!!
Looks are deceiving --Greens were diabolical with slopes-Know next time to add a little behind swing-- Putting was true and fairways were very playable--Cudos to staff--Reminds me of a Donald Ross design !! Will return ASAP
Tough conditions at this time
This course was in rough condition. The greens are normally challenging but right now they are all but unplayable. The greens were sparse and would not hold even the slightest putt. We were catching up with balls rolling 10 yards off the greens. Not fun.
Don't waste your money
This is an old municipal course with lots of weeds in the fairways and roughs. The greens are all domed and small. The course layout is potentially dangerous as was almost hit several times by golfers playing other holes.
18 Terrible Greens
1 foot puts will end up 30 feet behind you. Pin placements and slopes of almost every green were psychotic. Tee boxes look like they were used for 4-wheeling.
Pace of play was tough. 5 hour round. I don’t mind a good challenge. But never coming back. Better to play forest lake or country club of Mt. Dora.
Great greens
The course is not the longest but elevation changes on many holes make it a great challenge. The greens were in great shape and most of them have very tricky slopes. The very dry weather has left the fairways and rough in no so great condition but for the price we had a great value fun round of golf.
Pace of play
Course has a good Iayout. Greens are the courses defense.. Very fast, do not hold and very hard to read. Pace of play was horrendous. Took us 5 hours to play. Greens have some to do with that, but way to many singles and pairs that would not join as a group. Management must make people do that.
First time at Mount Dora
A fun day. We were able to get off in front of a 4 ball and we completed our round in 3 hours. The course was in good condition and the greens small and not easy. We de greened a couple of times.
Although short you have to hit the ball straight and keep out of the trees. A good challenge.
Lots of history here and the plaque outside the club house is a must read.
A good welcome and the Barman/Marshall kept the first tee moving on a very busy day. We hope to get back before the end of our holiday.
Mount Dora Golf Club
The course was in great shape. The greens were fast.
Thanks Chris and all the staff!.
