Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

A gem that needs polishing!
This is a great course!! It needs a lot of maintenance and some revision / especially the greens which are so crowned as to be at times unplayable. In addition, there needs to be rangers in order to control pace of play. 5 hours is not a reasonable play schedule!! Two open holes is not acceptable. I hope that there will be some improvement.
Horrible
The worse fairways I ever played on. We were the 2nd tee time of the day. When we got to 10 They put a league or tournament in front of us. They were playing as a 5 some and playing best ball. We had to wait 15 minutes for every shot. It would have been 3 hours for 9 holes. We left after the 12th hole..
Mt Dora Club
Old style muni course. Greens were in good shape, but bunkers and fairways need some attention. Some very long uphill par fives and a few very sloping fairways that require shot placement. Plays tough in the wind.
Forgiving course
Mount Dora made for a nice morning of golf. I played with 3 strangers and they made the round really enjoyable. The course was more forgiving than the usual courses I play in Florida.
For February, course is in much better condition than several others in Central Florida
Pace is slower. Be prepared for at least a 4.5 hours of this 70 only par course. However, weather was glorious and three very important areas of tee boxes, fairways, and greens were is top shape for February. Outside fairways, forget it, just like any other course around, you have bare and/or dead dormant grass areas where you can’t make any decent shots. So, hit them straight into the middle! Also, know that all 18 greens are like shoe box sizes! They require extreme accuracy, choose your clubs carefully. Last but not least, the challenge comes from the uphill shots or downhill rolls. You really end up struggling with your center of gravity adjustments. Overall, great challenging course with very special layout that I liked.
Lovely
Absolutely beautiful course. Well kept golf course. Super friendly staff. Small layout but does not detract from game play. Highly recommend.
Go literally anywhere else
Nothing good to say about this course. Rude and unprofessional staff, weeds for fairways, dirt for tee boxes, overbooked, and just all around dirty, broken, and old. Way too many better options. Don’t waste your time here.
Mt Dora Club
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the greens. Kudos to the staff. Old style muni built by hand by vets after WW2. Plays tough in the win.
Will see me again
Short course in terms of length. However the holes are really nice. Greens were very small but the nicest I have seen in Florida so far.
Like most reviews the only negative I could say about this course is the over lapping of holes. Often people from other holes are playing in your fairway. Liked it enough to say that I will return for sure.
