Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Raised Here
Sorry to say because I grew up here but the tee boxes were nothing but sand, the fairways were close cut weeds, pace of play slooow and greens leave a lot to be desired@
Cool little old style course
Definitely has an old school vibe to it. Pretty tight tee shots on a hand full of holes but if you know how to shape your shot it’s all good. Greens were small but way faster then I thought. Fairways were solid. Some weird grass throughout them but it’s easy to play off. Tee boxes from the tips are so so but playable. Overall great time. For the money can’t really complain about much. I will definitely be back!
Slow Play
Really like the layout at Mount Dora - old style course - especially the 12th which has a testing tee shot and approach shot over a pond. Unfortunately today will be remembered for the slow play!! Waited on every shot on the front side then got to the 10th tee to find we were the 4th group waiting to tee off!! Fortunately we were joined during the round by lone player John who was great company whilst we discussed the benefits of GolfNow and other courses in the area. Overall course in reasonable shape though greens were pretty slow compared with some other courses recently played. Really friendly bar area for a post round drink
Value for the price
One of the few course you can find a hot deal in the early morning
Short but Challenging
When I first played Mt. Dora Golf Club, I hated it. I saw a very narrow course that had fairways as high as the rough and small greens with bare spots. Now, the course greens are still small but in much better shape. The fairways and rough on some holes are still the same length, but they're low enough to the point it doesn't penalize your next shot. If you are a low handicap player looking to hone your accuracy and practice using multiple clubs without altering your score too much. As for the high handicap players, be prepared to hit unexpected fairways or trees lining them. The plus side is that you have a high chance of finding your ball. This course could be a challenge to some and a nightmare or let-down to others. Play it and decide for yourself.
Fun on a Florida course
Thank you to the staff at Mount Dora. They could not have been more helpful. The course was in great condition and played well. Just nicely challenging. Pace was okay on a very busy Saturday.
What a shame
Such a shame because this layout is very cool and unique. It's clear there is no money going into this facility. Fairways and rough are just whatever will grow. No specific turfgrass. Greens were just okay. They get scuffed up very easily.
Great little muni
This is a great little course to get out and play tremendous value for the dollar.
Great
For the price it was an amazing course. The staff was so friendly and the pace of play was great. Highly recommend
Ok
The course was nice but of course the rising sun made the first few holes difficult. Please note the lady at the front desk noted I had accidentally paid for three golfers by mistake...there were only two of us. Will you please adjust my invoice?

Still Loving it
I have played Mount Dora a number of times and you can never go wrong with this hidden Jem. It's always in great condition for a neighbor course and the staff is always friendly and easy to deal with. I bring all my golfing buddies to Mount Dora anytime I can get a chance to book a tee time. Keep up the good work guys I do appreciate it.
