Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.

A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Would play again if no other options

Tee boxes and greens in decent shape - fairways a little bare in spots. Greens were small and most were domed

- where balls tend to run off the edges.

Biggest issue was the number of parallel holes, and how close they are to each other. Several times we had people playing in our fairway from parallel holes (we found ourselves doing the same a few times), and holes were close enough together that sometimes it was difficult to see where to go for the next tee (tees close together as well). While certainly not a totally unpleasant experience, it was the least likeable of any of the courses we have played inn the area.

This is a very playable track from any tee box,. Course is a little beat up in the fairways, tee boxes and rough. Greens are nice but pretty small. Pace of play was slow the two times we played it. Will probably not be back even though the staff and folks are very welcoming.

The mounds those pesty mounts

All in all my guys and I had a good time, well maybe not so much, my friend Dave he always fines something wrong with all things. The tee boxes and greens look good and cared for. The greens are dome shaped and somewhat difficult to hit and stay on approach shots. I would play it again.

First time in 20 years

Never fancied this course before, but how wrong you can be some time’s The staff are first class, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome As some people have said not allot of grass on the fairway but if you have ever played on a Scottish links course in the summer you will have the same lies !! good ball striking is key. The green’s roll true and a good pace the course design is very interesting some really challenging holes.Value for money is second to non ,don’t make the same mistake I made, give this place a try it won’t brake the bank and you will have some fun I’m a low single figure golfer and I enjoyed it Roger from the UK. Thanks guys

My favorite course in this area and I've played many

I'm brimming with joy having shot one over par 35 on the back nine with 8 consecutive pars. Front nine was ugly and 46 for perspective and I shot 95 earlier in the week.

I love MDGC because getting a tee time online one day ahead is always easy. When I've been paired up with others I've always found great company. I've played this course in January and February for the past 4 years.

Pace of play is going to vary. My perception is that many vacationers (I've played with Canadians more often than average) often are here having not played in awhile or who play infrequently. I've often played with people who chose the tee time for the Special rate. This place, in my opinion, is not favored by the very rich, the young or those seeking a certain status. The place looks "long in the tooth" because it's been around a long time.

But in the end, it's golf. The fairways are not lush like those found on similar priced courses near my home in Wisconsin. It's common to have to hit of pretty bare lies. I'm not a nudger and I play it where it lies. The traps are fair and well-maintained. Greens are average size and not too undulating for the most part but there are some where a short pitch will land back at your feet. Rarely are their any double-breaking putts.

Staff has always been friendly and the electric carts, though not equipped with GPS, work well.

The space between fairways is cut low so there are few opportunities to have to search for a lost ball unless you are near a course boundary. There is only one water hazard that being on #12 with a pond dominating the right edge of the green while course boundaries exist on the back and left.

Overall, this is my favorite course because it's most familiar, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the greens always seem to be in consistent condition.

Great track with challenging greens

Staff is great and got me off right on time. Course layout is fun with challenging greens. Great value for money. Compared to courses I’ve played in $75 it’s a steal.

Couse conditions so-so

I thought the course conditions were ok but not good. The fairways lack in grass, greens are nice though. The fairways are a little dangerous, they are so close to each other, it's not rare to have ball land close to you. Took us around 5 hours which is expected on a sunday afternoon but there are no marshals anywhere, saw a group of 7 playing the 18th and a group of 5 on another hole.

Good for the $35 range

This course had decent greens, a bit thin fairways. poor bunkers and pretty good tee blocks. The layout was interesting. All in all, I'd return at 435 or less.
