Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Love Mt Dora!
Enjoyed it again. Early Saturday morning, super fast, pace of play, consistent greens. Great value. Staff was already cutting up fallen trees from the past few days heavy thunderstorms.
Not worth it even at the discounted rate
Of all the courses I've played in Orlando this was by far the worst. The greens are not able to hold the ball. There are many many brown patches and they don't roll true. The fairways are all weeds. The tee boxes are in decent shape but very bare and patches. The layout is open and okay, but the rest of the courses condition don't warrant the cost of admission, even at the discounted rate.
Decent value
The good: interesting history, fun layout, better than average greens, and friendly staff. The bad: tee boxes and “fairways” (way too many weeds to remove the quotes) are in need of serious care, the pace of play was horrible (5.5 hours for a 5700 yard from the tips track, and if you don’t get to your ball quick someone will pick it up. I’d go again, but not on a weekend.
Long time gem
Played this course back in the 70's when I had a single digit handicap. It seemed short then but enjoyable due to the hills. Now the norm being 7,000 yards it is still fun and won't give you as sever a backache. from swinging too hard .
Great people great little course
For the money you can’t beat it. Great people golf and work at this course. Always an enjoyment.
Hills
This course was a lot of fun. I’ve never seen such elevation on a florida golf course, there were holes going straight up, down, and sideways. 5000 something yard course probably played 6500-6800. Pretty wide open, neither of us lost a ball (that’s a first). Fairways are a mixture of grasses but very well maintained for what is there. Greens probably should have been mowed that morning, but offered up a nice challenge reading the grain (also a first). Conditions themselves were great considering the flood warnings all night from a bad storm, yet there was no water or even mud anywhere. I love playing cheaper courses, this one was probably the most fun I’ve played
Putting greens are supposed to have grass?
Maybe this course should rent out their greens keeper to some other courses in the area to show them how to grow grass on the greens.
Good value golf
Course is good. Fairways and some tee boxes need work. The greens were excellent. It's an easy going course. People are friendly and Plat safely.
