Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Classic
This is a nice old course among the live oaks that reminds me of the old municipal courses up North. … with better weather. Fairly tight layout And for FL and conditions of the greens and fairways were generally good. Mount Dora is a great town.
Mt Dora Club
Muni style course. In the best shape that I have ever seen it. Some long tough uphill shots. Fun track.
It’s always terrific!! And when the pace is quick I love this course!!
Slow play
You better be able to hit straight, narrow fairways side by side, keep alert or someone on the next or last hole will bean you. Group ahead never learned to let faster players pass, we waited 5plus min between shots all day with no one ahead of them for 3 holes witch we discovered after giving up and driving in after #14.
Challenging layout
Loved the elevation changes. Fair but challenging holes. Second time my group played and enjoyed each time. Many of the greens were crowned which made getting close difficult, and they were extremely dry which also made it difficult to hold on the green. We had fun.
Hidden Gem
Friendly staff. Course layout is great. Greens are in great shape although they’re a little on the slow side. Fairways are good albeit a little tight. Excellent value overall. My only comment is a cart girl would put this place over the top. It’s an underrated place and we enjoyed ourselves greatly. Definitely a hidden gem in Central Florida.
Great Course - Challenging Terrain
Very well kept course - The greens are challenging and speed is tough to master with the slopes. Speed of play was a bit slow, but the course can be tough for new players.
Greens are GREAT!
Short course, good value, good condition. Staff was very friendly. The greens are in great shape and challenging. Will definitely play again!
i realy #12 hole
The back to back par 5"s are a pain. But if i was a better golfer it would be ok,
Course could use a lot of work
I must say the staff is the best part of this course and they were excellent. I give them a 10 out of 10. As far as the course itself goes it needs a lot of work. The rough is sparce and weedy. The fairways are sparce at best. I could see there is an attempt to seed the course but I don't see how that would help due to lack of water. There is only one pond on the course so any watering is likely to be very expense or to the will of God. The greens are small, crowned and raised making them difficult to keep a ball from running of them. They are well maintained and roll very well. I will check back in a couple of years but I won't be playing it again any time soon.
I will say that if you want to practice your approaches from tight lies, this is a perfect course for you. It you can master it here, you can tackle these types of shot anywhere.
Fun course
This is a fun little course. We played from the blue tees as it's a short track. This provided some challenging holes. Will definitely play again.
Love this vourse
MDGC is challenging and enjoyable. A good length for ladies. Lots of fun!
Enjoyable and challenging
We found the course both enjoyable and challenging. Loved the elevation changes. Most of the greens were crowned and very hard so it was difficult to hold shots on the green if not hit short and rolling. We definitely will play again. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
