Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Enjoyable course to play
Friendly and helpful staff. Course in good condition considering the current weather conditions. Be better once the rain comes.
Caught up with a fourball on the 10th. who didn’t know the etiquette of letting quicker players through. Whilst they were senior golfers like my wife and myself, we waited for every shot on the back 9. They said they were slow because of the group in front…who were at least three holes in front of them! The club needs to educate their members otherwise visitors won’t return which doesn’t help the Club financially.
Overall, apart from the speed of play everything else made for an enjoyable round.
Great golf day
My wife and I played 9 holes and had a great time. Would play here again.
Good shape
I have played this course many times in the last three years. It has gone from a poorly maintained to a quality course in those years. If playing in the early morning though holes 1, 3, 4 and 5 are directly Into the sun. The course challenges you around the greens, but they are in great shape and putt true. Stay out of the trees and you can score here.
Perfect “Golf” Getaway
Great course to figure your game out and just nice people!
A forgiving course for the high handicapper.
New to golf, high handicap, had an enjoyable time with this course. Not a lot of brush for your ball to get lost, when the ball went in the trees you could see it come down. This is perfect for the high handicapper like myself who struggles with the occasional push.
Greens were rolling better than the average green in the area, albeit they were smaller than what I prefer. The greens were in great condition.
Had a fun time on this course, and would come again and I would recommend others who are new to check it out.
Still one of our favorites
Third time we have played Mt Dora. Love the layout and the elevation changes. Challenging but not overly difficult.
Course
Always great to play this course!!! Layout is great, staff is great, the atmosphere is great, always in great shape!!!
Great course that keeps me coming back
I found Mt Dora's Golf Course via a mistaken reservation, and I've returned 3 times since then. A mostly straight design but very challenging greens that roll pretty fast. 4 holes with meaningful (for FL) elevation changes, providing a couple enjoyable tee shots downhill. I found that on almost every hole, if your tee shot went left or right the chance was high that you would land in another fairway and have a great lie anyway. Each hole has beautiful and old live oaks covered in moss. Providing large areas of shade and create the need for crafty under/over tree recovery shots. Many greens are on raised buttes which can result in punishing roll offs for putts that go too far.
Great prices on drinks at the bar, good condition carts also have a built-in cooler. 3 different practice areas was also a nice surprise, including what looks like about a 100y practice hole in addition to the other two putting/chipping zones.
Can't wait to return and play again.
Classic
This is a nice old course among the live oaks that reminds me of the old municipal courses up North. … with better weather. Fairly tight layout And for FL and conditions of the greens and fairways were generally good. Mount Dora is a great town.
Mt Dora Club
Muni style course. In the best shape that I have ever seen it. Some long tough uphill shots. Fun track.
It’s always terrific!! And when the pace is quick I love this course!!
Slow play
You better be able to hit straight, narrow fairways side by side, keep alert or someone on the next or last hole will bean you. Group ahead never learned to let faster players pass, we waited 5plus min between shots all day with no one ahead of them for 3 holes witch we discovered after giving up and driving in after #14.
