Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

I felt it was too old and run down. Poor design if your going to have such tiny greens then the slope around them needs to be more fair. Even though the greens were very slow they had too much run off.
AVERAGE COURSE.
Not well maintained. Even grass on putting greens was not cut well.
Very nice staff!
All we encountered from cashier to starter to bar staff were very pleasant.
Made us feel welcome!
Nice course- very hilly for a Florida course.
Course was in good shape for the lack of rain recently. Greens were in good shape, pretty fast and a little over fertilized. They seem to fertilize a lot. Not many people out there yesterday for such a beautiful day.
Avoid early Friday mornings
Pace of play was awful. The course was loaded with seniors playing a scramble. They continually stood in fairways lined up behind their balls doing nothing. I even saw them waiting to hit the ball uphill over 220 yards. Hoping not to hit into someone I guess. Then when they were on the green, they would be on it for at least Five or more minutes. Usually when you have a scramble event you close the course or block out some tee times. I guess this is what they deemed to be normal on Friday mornings. After five holes, I skipped two only to run into them again. Absolutely frustrating!
I went to the starter to say they need a Ranger he said oh it’s only an hour and 40 minutes since I started. Only problem is it was an hour and 40 minutes for five holes, not nine holes.
I usually do not write reviews but If you’re gonna have a scramble event you should not be the allowing the public to come in behind it at the pace they were playing. It would’ve been 5 1/2 hours for this round possibly more . I played seven holes and left. Neither the starter nor the clubhouse offered a rain check. It’s too bad because I really like this course, The track is fun even though the course could use some work. I don’t think I’m going back again., Very sad!
Was here before on a Friday and the pace was amazing so I was excited to come back. I guess it’s senior scramble Russian roulette at this course on Friday mornings.
I wasn't a single. I was with two other players. I left them after 5 holes. Don't comment like you know what the situation was. Don't be a smart A about it either.
The stupid comment about mocking the guy playing as a single should actually READ the review. No where does he say that they wouldn't let him play through, he was talking about the pace of play. Slow play and people who shouldn't golf should stay off the course not singles. One of the dumbest takes I've seen on here.
Make some friends to play with. Don't go to a golf course as a single and expect everyone to let u go thru. A single has no business on a course that has all twosome and above.
