Mount Dora Golf Club

About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

A little slow today
The course was a bit packed but itwas beautiful day. The course was in good shape and the price very good.
Not for a low handicap player
This course was built in 1945,and therefore has very small greens. The fairways are tight but overall the course is on the shorter side. The clubhouse and restrooms look like they were built in 1945. This course will not challenge the better golfer. There are no ball washers or trash cans on the course. There is no water or cart service while you’re playing. It’s a ways from Orlando’s attractions so it’s probably not worth the trip. It’s a good course for seniors and shorter hitters.
Course is tight
Playing the course in February was in good shape. Fun & challenging. Narrow fairways and small greens made it fun. Definitely will play this course again before heading back to Ohio.
Good conditios, friendly staff
Course is in good conditions, friendly staff and good pace of play.
Not terrible, not great
Course conditions are fine for time of year. Greens have some dead spots. Fairways aren’t terrible or great. Staff is friendly, but no driving range available. Short, fairly open course layout, but every green is an inverted bowl making it challenging to hold. The swamp/sewage smell was pretty bad in certain spots. Would only play again for a lower price.
Charming and Unique Course
Very compact, unique, and compact course. I enjoy playing it but wish the conditions were a bit better.
Mount Dora Golf Course
Built in the mid 1940's, this is a great example of Public Golf Courses built in that era. While only around 5700 yards from the back tees, it plays to a much higher degree of difficult. Most holes are tree lined, most greens are well trapped, the course has some severe elevation changes particularly on par 5 holes, and whoever deigned the greens stole their ideas from Donald Ross or Pete Dye (there's nothing like seeing a 70 yard shot golf ball roll back 20 or 30 yards let alone run thru the green). So first time golfers, be prepared.
Ok for the Price
We got a Hot Deal on Tee Off for this course. The course hooked us up with another couple. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable time. The pace of play was slow it took us about 4 1/2 hours to play. It was our 1st time playing this course. It was a little confusing going from some of the greens to the next tee. The course itself was in ok condition much the same as many others we have played this year in FL. The greens were very fast. We would play this course again if it was a Hot Deal. It was worth the money we spent.
