Mount Dora Golf Club

About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

5 star for speed of play
Plated at 1130 got around in three hours. It was great not to be held up on every shot. The last few rounds have been 4.30 and horrible. Not the course itself usnt great. Greens were just about ok. The rest a bit rough. The clubhouse didnt seem to serve anything from the sixties.
Fairways were bumpy so it was like driving on the moon.
But what a breath of fresh air to play without delay....if only all courses could be like this....or even 3.45.....
A good day at the golf course ruined by 2 drunks
I play almost all of my golf in the winter time as a single thru Golf Now and Golf Pass
Unfortunately this round was ruined by getting paired up with 2 drinkers that drank their way thru the front 9 and by the time we made the turn at 10 they were totally blasted
I quit after the 11th hole when 1 of the guys was face down in the garbage can throwing up.
I will have a drink with anybody but I don't drink and golf at the same time. The golf course is for playing the game and the 19th hole is for crying about it
Mount Dora,FL
Course is okay. It is somewhat short. Most greens were slow, small, elevated and protected by sand.
You should score well if your iron shots and putting are working.
Loved it
Great staff, good condition, wide open fairways.
A great day at an affordable golf couirse
This course is not a high end golf course.
However it is a very playable, well maintained golf course for a reasonable price
Although it is not very long, it will challenge you with it's elevation changes to some of the greens and the breaks in many of your putts
A very playable course for everyone with enough challenge to keep you interested
Old Course Good For SeniorsIts in good condition given that it’s winter.
The course was built in 1946 . The clubhouse is old and it could use a tune up. The layout is ok for seniors but not for low handicaps. The greens are small but true.
Incredible Value
Great, challenging golf course with fairly small greens. Some nice elevation changes and an extremely mature course, built in 1945. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be playing again.
Jfy
Course was in good shape. Greens were flow and needed to be cut. Pace was fair. Waited on every hole , but only got a few minutes.
Great course
Great course, greens were well kept but slow. Pace of play was pathetic but it was a great day and did not mind the extra time on the course.
Great course for seniors, golfers with a handy cap, people with a high handicap
Because of my arthritis handicap, I can not hit the ball as fair as I used to
By playing the gold tees, I reduced the yardage to 4,400 yards which allowed me to keep up with everyone else in my four some.
The course has a limited number of sand traps and water hazards which kept me in the game on miss hit shots
The course conditions were not perfect but they were OK considering what I paid to play
I will definitely play this course again based on the value for the money
FRIENDLIEST STAFF!
definitely go play Mount Dora, we were a bit sceptical at first as relatively cheap compared to some we had played (visiting from England)
On arrival at course, lovely welcome from pro shop crew, couldn’t have been more helpful. Course if well laid out, so lovely to not be surrounded by houses which seems to be the way courses are now all around the Davenport area. Enjoyed our game so much we went back again and were greeted by staff who recognised us from our previous visit.
