Greens Not Up to Par
I have to say I was disappointed by the shape of most of the greens. When I played over Father's Day they rolled true and were in prestine condition. Course is still the best in area but feel as if care for small details dropped a little.
Ridiculous pin placement
The fairways were in great shape. The rest of the course was average at best. The pin placements were borderline illegal. They allow their maintenance guy so to put a blindfold and just stab the pin wherever they want. Half of the pins were placed on a slope which made the shots that I stuck 2 feet from the hole impossible to make. This course is difficult enough where you don’t have to punish casual players with ridiculous pin placement.

Might be best public course in West Texas/Eastern New Mexico
Course was fun to play. It is the longest but the sand traps throughout forces you to think about your next shot.
All you can hit range, chipping, and putting is awesome.
Talking about putting, the greens are fast but true. Once you learn the speed you are good to go.
Look forward to making a monthly visit.

Bad tee times
We booked through GolfNow for $50, course charged us $85. We had to haggle to get our $35 back after the round.
Your tee time system still needs improving.

Good day
It was a beautiful day for golf so Rawls course we played. Greens were good, tee boxes a little dry and fairways were good. Overall experience was good!

Rawls Rocks!
If you haven't yet played the Rawls Course--do it!
On a 65 degree day with no wind, I was able to play by myself and finish in 3 hours.
Course was much more defenseless without the customary winds.
Great way to spend an afternoon in Lubbock!
Thank you for the 5-star review!
Rawls
The only down side to Rawls is pace. I heard counter person explain on the phone they were short handed. Play was stacked by people jumping out of line at the turn. There were three groups waiting on 10 when we turned. We did not stop and the group we had been following stopped, went to their car,and the bar, added a player and then demanded they get back into the line in front of us. To save stress we allowed it. Then they stepped up hit 3 out of 4 balls into the water and then all hit second shots not from the drop but from the tee. Would suggest they NEED pro active marshall at several spots on the back. We had a marshall ask us to pick up play and WE had been waiting until one from our group hit an errant tee shot and we took some time to find it we moved quickly back and waited on the group in front of us and experienced another very long wiat at the 17th tee . I LOVE this course but 5.5 hours is a very long round in the heat.
Fun Play and Layout
I enjoyed the course and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Fairways and greens were in pristine condition.
Only suggestion would be for the course to provide better directions between some of the holes. First time players might get turned around like I did.
Nonetheless, the course is a must play if you are in the area.
Great time
My wife and I played late afternoon and couldn’t ask for a better time. FYI shot a 79
Best course in town!!
Best fairways, greens and, tee boxes in the city!! Friendly staff. Great food.
Hot Day
100 degrees but still with it. Beautiful course and friendly staff.
Rawls
The best golf course to play in Lubbock. Can’t go wrong. Working on the greens now. Great staff.
Solid West Texas Golf At its Finest
I am a Freshman at Texas Tech and a member of the Texas Tech Club Golf Team. I take my golf very seriously and this course caters to that need. Pace of play can vary day to day as do most courses but most of the members and especially the staff know how to keep a club healthy. overall the grass is mostly dead due to cold temperatures but still plays wonderful. I look forward to a great season on a live and healthy version of the Rawls. The staff is very nice and will make sure you have a good experience. the only thing I would like different would be less days that the high schoolers come to practice because they are pretty loud and obnoxious and take up every inch of the practice facility in a couple early afternoons during the week but it is what it is. Only course in west Texas to know how to run a golf course.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing The Rawls Course at Texas Tech.
