Wildhawk Golf Club
About
WildHawk Golf Club is a challenging championship layout that is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The verdant landscape is dotted with scenic water features, including a cascading waterfall. Water is naturally a prominent presence but the unique shape and positioning of the bunkers also makes the course stand out from other public tracks. The golf course boasts some of the area's best greens as well. The layout has a diverse mix of challenging holes and player friendly elements such as the wide-open fairways on the longer par 4s and par 5s, which makes the golf course accommodating for a range of skill levels. It still requires a fair amount of accuracy though since it can get tight in some spots. WildHawk Golf Club can also be more difficult depending on the wind

Can't you read the sign?
Several holes seemed to have players rondezvou in the same general area. A little more direction is needed to help avoid confusion in finding the next T box. The locked water buckets were refreshing to see but the water was getting warm @ 3:00 on this 100* day. The fairways were pretty nice and green which was surprising. Of course the outer edges were becoming brown and hard but that's expected in the valley with the drought conditions. We played the white T's which allowed us some leeway and only a few fairways were "tight". The traps did a good job protecting the greens but a few of them were under repair. The greens themselves were well cared for and the pin placements were fair. For the Sacramento area I rate the course just above Bartley Cavanaugh for size and quality. Same quality but smaller than Teal Bend and Ancil Hoffman. Most other municipal courses are of lesser quality in the Sac area.
Not a good day
I have played here many times over the last three years even though it is an hours drive from my home. Average course, but usually you can play fairly quickly and it is not bad for the price. Unfortunately, this time wasn't so nice. I arrived an hour before my tee time, checked in at the pro shop and paid my fee's. Warmed up and then arrived at the starters stand about 25 minutes before my tee time. Starter checked me in right away making sure I signed for my cart. The starter was busy pushing groups off and I waited and waited. My tee time came and he called another group up. With all of the golfers, I figured they were backed up. Then the starter announced the first group of a mini tournament to the tee. I asked the starter when was I going off? He told me that he had forgot all about me. Telling me the next group had the next hour and half of tee times and I would have to join the foursome that was now on the third hole tee box. He drove me out to join them as a five-some. He told me that after 18 just come back to the first tee and play hole one and two. Not really happy but what else could I do. So when I did finish 18, I found the first tee busy so I checked in at the pro shop. I was told to join the two-some on the first tee, no problem. The only problem was that two-some was already on the green and three full groups were waiting on deck. At that point I was too mad and decided to go home. As I was leaving the pro shop attendant asked why I wasn't playing. I told her what I found and her response was Oh, Sorry". No offer of maybe a break on my next round, no apology, nothing. The starter screwed up, nobody is perfect and understand that. But to compound on a mistake that really shouldn't have happened, one that really screwed up the mental side of my game all day, Oh Sorry just didn't really seem like a proper response. I will play there again it just might be awhile...Maybe a long while
Okay, but price has to be right
The greens and fairways are always in decent condition, at least every time I've visited. The pro shop has a good selection of nice products, but it's kinda small. Bar and Grill is small but adequate for a post-RA under hangout. Only problem is that their regular weekend price, at $56, seems out of touch with the local market in my opinion which, as think about it more, would probably benefit from an adjustment. I mean, they charge what the market will bear, right?
Great course
Friendly staff, course in great shape, not super tough fun for a higher handicap player and from tips a challenge for anybody good fun golf course
Enjoyable but SLOW
Like to play at Wildhawk but have never been there when there wasn't a slowdown that never ends!! Usual stoppage starts on the third hole but this time we were behind a 3 some that never got going. Wait for every shot, every hole. Told "marshall" twice but nothing done. Course very wet and green. Well maintained and greens smooth and quick
Great greens and pace of play
We went off just before noon and finished at 3PM! Wildhawk sets up well fro all playing abilities. The greens are in great shape and roll true. They play sneaky fast. Best place on the south sife of Sac to play.
Great course in good shape
Slightly overpriced compared to other courses in the area.
Where's the cart girl
Greens recently sanded slow and bumpy. Bunkers under repair on a lot of holes No beverage or cart girl service even though temp in 90s
Good rate on golf now makes worth playing

Nice course. Good condition. Would have been nice if they had yard markers with layouts and numbers for each hole. Coming off of the 16th we went back to the 5th b/c the sign to the 17th tee box faces the wrong way!
Kitchen
Called for food as instructed b4 making the turn, but food wasn't ready. Mayb they should have you call on the 8th hole instead. Breakfast burrito was big and healthy though!
Great Deal
This course is in great shape. Definitely worth the drive out there. The greens were impeccable.
this course has done challenging holes mixed in.
This course has a variety of levels of difficulty. Some holes are straightforward and others require a great shot. Fun and enjoyable course, little to no stress is a good day of golf
Bad judgement from marshals
Marshals of this course need to know which group and why they hold up the pace of playing. Our group were a 3 some, we are all single handicap players, we know the golf etiquatte. We didn't hold up the course. We were holding up by the 2 some in front of us, bcz they are spreading the balls everywhere and take too much time looking for their balls. However, the marshal came over and asked us to speed up and keep up with the group in front of us! I said "what the heck"!?!?!?!? But about the condition and the layout of the course is pretty good!
good play
My son & I played this course for the 1st time and we liked it a lot. About 4 hour time to play. Would come again.
Decent enough course
A bit soggy out there in places and dirt bunkers down the fairways; only sand is by the greens. Overall nice course, excellent friendly staff will play again and would recommend to others.
Great public course
Great golf for your money. I like this course a lot because it is right next to my house. The only negative is that it can get crowded but we didn't wait at all yesterday. It was wonderful.
Great Deal
Wild Hawk is a great place to play for the money, it was well maintained and greens were nice and smooth . Staff was great and friendly , I would play it over and over
