Wildhawk Golf Club
About
WildHawk Golf Club is a challenging championship layout that is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The verdant landscape is dotted with scenic water features, including a cascading waterfall. Water is naturally a prominent presence but the unique shape and positioning of the bunkers also makes the course stand out from other public tracks. The golf course boasts some of the area's best greens as well. The layout has a diverse mix of challenging holes and player friendly elements such as the wide-open fairways on the longer par 4s and par 5s, which makes the golf course accommodating for a range of skill levels. It still requires a fair amount of accuracy though since it can get tight in some spots. WildHawk Golf Club can also be more difficult depending on the wind

Beautiful !! Photo submitted by LonneyJay14 on 12/05/2013
Slow Play
Lots of player who play two balls, tend too putt out, and look too long for lost balls , great greens great fairways good tee boxes had a good time but was long play09
Valley course
Tiny greens, well manicured for the large volume of people who seem to play here, no huge challenge. Flat, not much chage in scenery.
overbooked, overpriced, too short, swampy
I am used to a longer course, (Mather). Pace of play was very slow. Foursome in front was overplaying by acting as if they were pros, took way too long to read the green. $49.00 is overpriced for this course, Mather, Ancil, Allistor, better bargains. Course is too short, Ex> hole 1 is just barley over 300 yards, drove the green and almost hit the guys who were taking too long anyways. Overwatered, bad drainage. everywhere I stepped was like I was playing in the rain. Bottom line, there are many better options in the Sacramento area.
One of our favorite courses!
Very challenging and engaging course, but also extremely beautiful. We have a ball every time we play here at Wildhawk.
Hope to play again very soon!
Good course, great value.
I was very pleased with this course. Drove 1hr 15 min. to get to the course and it was well worth it. Challenging holes without a lot of distance. Doesn't look like it but it is a very compact links style course. Conditions were a bit soggy but your not always gonna get pouring rain that early in September either.
Fairways and greens in great shape as usual.
Easily the best kept city course. Friendly staff. Cold water supplied through the course. Always enjoyable to play at this course.
Very cordial staff, course invery good condition including bunkers (finially) and pace of play fast but not rushed.
Pro shop staff very helpful but not pushy. Carts clean and in good condition. Rather short but fun and demanding course to play. Tees, fairways and greens in good shape. Lot of work has gone on improving bunkers (lack of sand) with some still in need. Definitely will return!
While we're young!
Exactly 3 hours to play the front nine with an 11:24 tee time. Unacceptable for a beautiful, sunny day with very little wind. I'm not sure the back nine would have played any faster when all was said and done. We left after 4 1/2 hours on the course and still had 5 holes to go. Too bad the two marshals we saw were busy apologizing for the slow play rather than telling the slow players in front to pick it up or stick a fork in it! Also, way too much water on the course as well - and I don't mean hazards. Be careful to avoid the mud traps (I think they were supposed to be sand traps).
course is too pricey for its condition
bunkers have nothing but rock pebbles. i did not hit from fairway bunkers when my ball went inside once due to the many pebbles. pace of play is too long. greens are too slow
A Generally Good Experience
My wife and I got paired up with another couple. It was a little slow but not terrible. There were plenty of challenges without any impossible gimmicks. Many of the holes had the same feel to them. I like the open feel of the course - but that may be because I have so much trouble finding the fairway... at least on a course like this, if I can't find my own fairway, perhaps I can find someone else's - but I somehow always felt like the hole I was on was the only hole on the course. There was some confusion from time to time about where to go for the next hole; a little more signage would be helpful. The driving range looked very nice, but we didn't have time to give it a run.
Great value
Good condition tee to green, bunkers pretty good shape
Always a good time at Wildhawk
The greens at Wildhawk tend to be slow and absent of break, almost every pin placement provides a greenlight to target the cup dead center. This is a good course for golfers new to the game, the rough is usually easy to escape and the fairways are wide and void of trouble.
Good Value for a muni.
A good value with the Golf Now Hot Deal rate. I would probably opt for a different course if the Hot Deal rate was not available.
Better than muni conditions
I have long played Wildhawk and consistently find the staff friendly and courteous. The course is interesting and also popular - which makes for crowded conditions and long rounds on occasion. Greens are usually very good. Bunkers have been "under repair" for 2+ years now and are condition drawbacks. All in all, I find Wildhawk to be in my top six courses to play in the crowded Sacramento golf market.
Bunkers on every tee
My first time at Wild Hawk was really challenging. This course was filled with sand bunkers overload. Once I got in the bunker my handicap increase by two points. Nice people. will go back to practice and lower my handicap soon.
Some bare spots
Overall, the course is kept in pretty good condition considering the amount of play. The traps had sand in some and hard clay in others. Some of the fairways were bare and had brown spots.
First time playing this course; I'll be back!
Well, this is sure a confidence-building course. It was well-maintained, had fair and open fairways, and just enough hazards to get me into trouble. I went +4 to finish the last three holes and still managed to shoot an 82. I will definitely be back to play this nice course!!

Fairways and greens were in great shape. The greens rolled a little slow but looked good. Had to start on the back nine because they sanded front 9
Fairways and greens were great* had to start on the back because they sanded the greens on the front. The only issue is the quality of the bunkers. Many are nothing but mud and have no sand at all and have no sand in them.
The greens are in good shape
The pace of play was great (well it was in middle of week and not many players) and the ball rolled pretty true off the putter head.....The course is well maintained and had fun playing.......Great value for the money since I got a hot deal.
Cannot complain whatsoever.
Great staff...
The staff here is wonderful especially John and Cliff.i always play there with my 8 year old son and they are great to deal with.
Thank you!
