Palatka Golf Club

About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Nice layout
Staff very friendly, pace of play excellent , greens a little spotty but very playable
Good Layout
A bit dry like everything else in the area right now, so a lot of brown. Great layout. Will definitely return.
Golf Experience
Greens were in poor condition & relative to the size of the greens the flag placements were not good. The fairways were not very good either. Very disappointing… I made (and paid a booking fee) for 7:15am. It was clearly first come first served as 3 groups went off in front of us (golf course opens at 7.00am) so how can that be? We saw 2 people waiting in back of us so we offered for them to join us which they did. About mid way through the front 9 the group in back of us started hitting up on us. We were keeping pace with the group in front of us so this was totally unacceptable. No starter to organize anything. Disappointing day overall.
Old school course, needs love.
Great layout, with various doglegs, challenging par 3's and roundtop greens. Laid back atmosphere with a good pace of play. Foursome finished in 3.5 hours. Tee boxes were in need of repair, bare spots with very sparse grass. Fairways were very dry, good for long drives...but in need of water. Greens were very difficult to putt on. Bare spots and sandy. Area around bunkers were loaded with weeds and clover. Bunkers were actually pretty good. Nice golf course but needs work.
Needs rain
I like this course and its layout, however it’s in dire need a TLC. Very dry, fairways brown and flat, most of the greens in sad shape, dry. Tee boxes mostly dirt. But I will go back, rains will help as weather changes.
Good course
Greens rolled true and were fairly quick. Fairways were nice in the middle but dry and candy around edges. A few greens did not have good grass for pitch shots. Overall, nice layout, good value. Pace was slow, but there was a local tournament.
Conditions
The course is not a 4 star rating as was stated by several reviews. 3 at best. The greens were in horrible conditions with a lot of dead grass and black spots. The tee boxes and fairways were in poor condition. I did however enjoy the layout. With some serious TLC, it could become a great course!
Solid course
Straightforward course with some challenges, but many opportunities to post a good score. Greens need a little work, but rolled pretty well overall.
Great value of the money
As with many other courses the greens have some rough spots. This year seems to be a bit more rough than past years for this and other courses such as Southampton and Palm Harbor as well
Fairways are very good here - in fact they are the best for the money by far.
Challenging Donald Ross layout - first few holes are tough
I strongly recommend the grilled hot dog in the bar after your round !!
Vintage Golf Course
You will not be disappointed playing here. Not a long course but unique to North Florida with the elevation changes and challenging greens. A fun course at a good price
Elwood place for the price
I really enjoy this track. Play every time I am in town. Greens had a couple rough spots, but they were bringing them back in. I always play early so pace is good, but appears middle of day slows down. Staff very friendly. Lots of twist and turns on the course. Par 3s are probably the most challenging holes that they have.
Do Something!
Last 3 times I have played there it was slow I mean real slow. I guess that's what to expect with a course in as great shape as this one is, but it was real slow. Oh I just came up with a great idea get a Ranger and sent them out there and at least try and fix the problem.
A Ross Course!!
It is a true Donald Ross track. Greens have the signature rolls and diabolical breaks. You can see how he blended the course into the landscape to layout the track. Course is in transition from winter to spring, the the greens were rolling true and fast. I would recommend an early tee time to get the best experience. Tees and fairways are filling in and will most likely be in great shape in a few more weeks.
If you step back and take in each shot, you will get the picture that Ross was trying for.
I will be back!
