Palatka Golf Club
About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Course in decent condition
Normally enjoy the course...All the rough is grown in with weeds but I am not suppose to be there...
Don’t be fooled
Although this course isn’t long from the back tees and you have plenty of space to hit driver don’t think this is easy course. Classic Ross course with tough greens to both hit, and putt when you do hit one. Tee boxes needed work, fairways were perfect, rough was cross between grass and sand. Every green except one was in great condition but were very slow. Overall I enjoyed the course, I got a good deal using Golfnow. Id recommend playing it at least once to appreciate the differences between green designs of the early years to what we get present day.
Nice day
2 of us played in 2 hour 45 min. Greens in great shape. Tough to read if you have not played it. I played like do do but enjoyed the course !
Nice Day
For early Fla. spring the course is in good shape. Grass is growing and there looks to be continual effort to improve the fairways. The greens are rolling and in good shape. This is where a few of the extra shots come in. Local to me and I enjoy playing there a couple of times per month.
Good “old-school” course
Links layout with a couple challenging dog-legs. Greens were exceptional well-kept. Don’t write off this course just because it’s in Palatka.
Great day
The course is handling the Coronavirus health scare very well. They allow one person per cart, the holes are cut 1 inch deep so you don’t have to reach in, no rakes in the bunkers, and the carts are cleaned after every use.
The only minor ding on the round was that the greens, though in perfect shape, were very slow. No word on why they weren’t mowed closer.
All In all, well worth the trip from Jacksonville for a Donald Ross hidden gem.
Great course
Very great condition. Greens are tiny and elevated. Fairways are in excellent shape as our the greens. Greens could be a little more faster for me. Great layout. Would highly recommend this course.
Interesting old school designed course -
Interesting old school designed course - fairways were in good shape. Really disliked the the postage stamp crowned greens! Many of the tee boxes were in rough condition. Drove over an hour to play this course - best part of the experience was the drive! Staff working on-site very very friendly and professional. Thumbs down from me -
No longer with golf now
Got there and course is no longer associated with golf now. Did get to play after driving 35 miles but paid more. Still need to call Golfnow and get my money back that course would not honor. Kind of a cluster.
Donald Ross old style gem
Palatka Golf Club is a classic Donald Ross. Small raised greens. Green speed was quite slow but perhaps necessary given shape and size of greens. Pace of play was very good, we played in 3 1/2 hours.
First time I will be back
Nice nice course enjoy myself enjoying the friendly atmosphere the greens on excellent shape course everything they told me it would be
Great course
Enjoyed playing this course on and off for 3 years. Each year course improves. Good fairway grass, well maintained bunkers, and good rough. Greens are a little bumpy and slow, but good grass coverage. Enjoyed round. Staff very accommodating to golf now Patrons which is not always the case
Old Style Donald Ross
Loved the course. Wide open fairways and small greens. Makes you work at that short game. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Drove over an hour to play and would do it again.
This is a good course.
We played 18 holes in 2 hours and 40 minutes.——-thanks to a foursome ahead of us on the second hole. We played there a week ago and we followed a foursome who wouldn’t let us play through. It took us over 5 hours. We were a twosome———-my wife and I. Part of the game is: good manners out there!!!
Great condition for January
Played in 2 some under 4 hrs. Fairways in good shape with ample grass. Bunkers maintained. Greens in good condition for time of year . Staff very accommodating. Course even better than last year
A Donald Ross must play
Have to return when it is not raining, course was in good condition, considering rain, plush fairways and greens ere good. The layout was uniquely challenging. We will be back.
be careful
If your going to the driving range lookout. there is no protective netting keeping balls pulled from the 9th tee from flying onto the range hitting area.
a ball missed my wife's head by 1" and then missed my leg by about 6".
wear a helmet.
surprised
short 6000 from the tips
greens were smooth and med. fast
fairways had been overseeded and had plenty grass
teeboxes plenty of grass and level (except for some of the ladies tee my wife had to use
sand traps had enough sand and were raked
shot 69
