Plat Early
Tee time was 9:00am. actually hit our first shot at 9:30. On the 3rd tee there was 3 foursomes backed up. 3:45 minutes to play front nine. walked off at that point.
Bad experience
had 9 :00 am tee time and didn’t tee off until 9/40. They had a men’s tournament that morning and then took three hours to play nine holes.
good course in fair condition
Poplar Creek is a good course that needs yo be maintained better. It also has a policy that golfnow
customers cannot tee off earlier even if there is no one ahead of them.
Short, small course to charge that much
Short track but lots of waiting around. Doesn't help with tee times just 7 minutes apart, then you have an elderly man behind the counter sending out a single golfer between groups. A lot of patches on the fairways and around the greens.
For the price, great place to play
It isn't a great course, but it is a good course to go to consistently and just work on your game. It got slow with some beginners, but sped up after that.
Good feeling course
Played here many times. Not too long but definitely some long holes especially when the usual wind comes in off the bay most afternoons.. the greens while not very undulating are quicker than they look. Overall, a course where if you are on can score well and feel good about your game.
Good round of golf
We had a very good round of golf at Poplar Creek. The weather was great as there was very little wind. The only drawback was the slow play as it took us close to 5 hours.
Local standby
Played here again. Recently the greens have been ratcheted up to play faster than before. Downhill putts are quite in danger of 3 putts. I scored well even though I wasn't hitting it great, mostly due to better than average putting.
Lots of riff raff
Course is in pretty good condition. Greens had decent speed to them, although definitely not what most people would consider quick. They're doing a lot of repair work on the fairways, which is great. Staff here is always friendly. But the past few times I have played here, we have encountered some unsavory types, which is really unfortunate. The most recent encounter involved one member from our group being the subject of some ridicule from the group behind - all for no reason at all. Nobody wants to get treated like that. This group also had no sense of golf etiquette. Being crowded on every tee box was extremely annoying. If all of this wasn't bad enough, the group in front of us, refused to take their second shot until the group in front was off the green. Totally normal and expected on par 3's and on most par 4's...but on par 5's when your drive is ~200 with 300 left to go? Ridiculous. This course isn't the hardest, but it can be entertaining (a few driveable par 4's) which is why I like playing here. But it is a muni, and as a result it attracts all types, including those who don't respect other human beings and don't respect the game.
Terrible pace
Things started out nicely, teeing off right on time, but by the time we finished the first hole it went from bad to worse having to wait more than 20 minutes to hit at the number 2 hole. It took 3 hours to finish the front 9. Decided to quit by number 14, when definetly became like being stuck in heavy traffic in New York City. When drove by towards the exit, noticed that nobody was playing 17, and players were about to finish 18. Almost two holes completely open.
Said no to recommended this course, because if pace of playing it’s like this all the time is no worthy to spend your money ($$) if you are not going to enjoy it,
Great course
Great course conditions and pace of play friendly staff
Poplar Golf Course
Poplar is a good golf course unless the wind is forty miles an hour. The facilities are fine. the personnel is courteous and helpful. The course is in good shape - could use a little more care, but it is fine for the likes of me. The wind was terrible.
