A bit soggy, but good nonetheless
With the amount of rain we've seen recently, i was unsure whether the course would be closed. However, they've kept it open - it does have some large wet patches, and it's cart-path only for the foreseeable future - but the greens are lush, the fairways are generally in good condition (if you can keep out of the puddles), and the breakfast burrito is a WINNER.
son and father golf day.
The quality of this course is worse than most municipal golf courses you will find anywhere in California. The time of play was over 6 hours for 18 holes a ridiculous amount of standing around and no Marshall our staff around to help. I would not recommend this place if you would like to have a good day. This is the kind of golf course that gives Municipal Golf Course is a bad name.
2nd hole challenge
I was not aware of the 2nd hole when I play golf that day.Be aware of the water on the right side.If you hit the ball harder than 200 yards your ball will be in the water.Theres also tree hazards on the right but better than your left water hazards . My advice is use 3 or 4 fairway woods then hit your 2nd shot to the green.
too slow
5 hour+ round is too slow. 4 groups waiting on the second tee and the pro shop was still sending off people as fast as they could.
The greens are in pretty good shape. The rest of the course is dry just like every other course in the area at the moment.
Poplar Creek
Greens very wet. Two greens had patches of water. Fairways spotty. Love the course layout. Price too high at $67.
Nice view
The course was in good shape considering the drought. A lots of holes were under repair
The course was extremely slow. There was 4 groups waiting at the first par 3.
The signage for the holes were non existent. It was the first time playing and I had no idea which way to go to the next hole.
Always fun
Good course and close to home. Got a great price on Golf Now. In pretty good condition, will play again.
Improved outlook
The course is in good shape given the drought. There are a few repair areas but it is playable.
New driving range is a great asset.
For the first time in memory we actually got a weekend round completed in 4.5hours. Not the norm for Poplar.
Nice Course for a Reasonable Price
I was traveling for business and decided to give this course a try since it was convenient to the airport and my hotel. Considering the drought, it was in pretty nice shape. Greens were receptive and relatively fast, and the fairways were in good condition.
Very nice clubhouse and a pretty organized plan for getting groups off of the first tee. It was very busy for a Wednesday afternoon and the course was full. There was also a nice snack shack at the turn.
The course wasn't terribly hard, but the par 3s were long from the tips. I think three of them were at or longer than 200 yds. It wasn't terribly windy that day, but the guys I was playing with say it's a different course on a windy day.
Overall I'd say it's a good place to play if you're in town on business or just passing through. Nothing spectacular, and nothing disappointing. I will add though that it's very noisy. In addition to the large planes constantly landing from international flights, you'll encounter a noisy highway, power generating station, and even a gun range. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this isn't the place.
No Wind Saved the Day
This was my third time playing this course. The starter sent me out 20 minutes ahead of my tee time which normally wouldn't be a problem but I didn't have a chance to practice or get a drink before my round because of it. Some of the fairways have some pretty rough dirt patches not sure if its because of the drought but I doubt it. Same thing around the edges of some of the greens. This course however is easy and can give you the boost you need if you want to shoot a decent round.
Moderate Summer Weather
Played here to avoid San Jose area 96 degs, here was only 83!
Course is fairly short, some wind, but not today. Bare spots on FW and rough areas due to drought so of course i found them.
Had good meal afterwards in bar/restaurant area.
Course For All
First time playing this course. Played with some players with course knowledge, very helpful. Course was in very good shape even with the drought. Greens were in great shape, fairways had some dry spots but we have a drought, no problem, bunkers were in good shape, better than most that I have played and the course is very easy to walk if you want to. This is a good course for beginners as it is not long or very difficult and I will play it again. Only one problem here, no water coolers on the course and it was in the 90's this day, unusual for the bay area.
Decent greens and easy to walk!
I enjoy this course because it is easy to walk provides some good practice. The one thing that drives me nuts is it always seems to get extremely windy on this course which makes the course more difficult, but not fun. If you can't a discount or promotion on golf now there are other courses that are better value for your money.
price is right
$50 cart, range balls ,18 holes on a Sunday great deal !pace of play was great with a 11:00 tee time. Thanks I,ll be back !
Lots of repair areas
This course was in pretty rough shape, had to play drought rules.
Great course to walk!
Overall, this course is in good shape with decent greens. If you looking for a straight course with solid greens give this place a shot. Hard to beat the price and very easy course to walk. A place I go after work to get some practice.
easy carry bag walking on course
nice and easy to walking for 18 holes green are good
food and beverage
20 minutes to get sandwich. watch server taste fries off an order just put up on kitchen counter.help was not friendly and seemed not to care was more interested in talking to each other to much chatter in kitchen. might be reason order was slow. Sandwich was very good fries fair but to soft. ordered a bowl of chili after the round Server said they did not serve chili It was on the menu I did get my chili after about 15 minutes very slow. chili was OK your dinning service was very slow bar was busy dinning was not bartender was good fast service
Nice find!
Conveniently located near the San Francisco Bay, a few miles south of the airport. Enjoyed the round with a couple of locals. Most fairways easy to hit. Not too difficult, even for high handicap player.
