Nice fairly easy course
Nice course close to home easy course layout their is no more to say thanks a lot
Good morning round
Course was nice. Greens were consistent and firm. Fairways were a little patchy in spots. Pace of play was great and weather was San Mateo's finest
Course is good for the price
The course is a nice layout. Has too many spots of dirt versus grass. Needs to be seeded better.
Last resort
When we showed up and saw at least a dozen players wearing Levi's and T- shirts we knew it was going to be a long day.
No driving range. Chipping area was a mess.
Your Average Muni
Been a while since I played Poplar, doing some redesign work, had a temp green (#6), otherwise had to put up with some wind on some holes. Overall a decent outing.
Know what to expect
Poplar isn't a fantastically maintained course but the facilities are nice and the twilight rates for this area are pretty unbeatable. A weekday twilight round will take a very long time and most likely you won't get through 18, but that's just the way it works. The bar, food, and staff are all above average. Just know you won't be looking at a perfectly manicured course with no waits in the tee box because otherwise you will be very disappointed.
Great course, but slow pace of play
Honestly, this is a great course with good staff the bar at the nineteenth hole included. I believe her name is Mel very sweet and she made a fantastic margarita!
The front nine the pace of play was good not great it did begin to slow down by hole 7. The back nine however, is a totally different story. Every single hole was a bottle neck sometimes as many as three groups in front of us. Guys you need to get a handle on this or people won't come back.
As a matter of fact, the guys I was paired with usually play Harding Park and a few other courses and they said that they have never experienced this slow pace of play. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this. I will continue coming back, because I live five minutes away!
Play your Handicap Tees
short course, afternoon wind comes in to play, to have a good score card, you need place your tee shot with distance and position, to have your 2nd shot on the green, greens great putts true.
Great value for this course
Very enjoyable walkable course with it's share of challenges. Bunkers were too hard to hit proper shots but overall very good value for an 18 hole course.
Greens and fairways
Greens and fairways are in great shape and course is ready to play. Watch out for the trees they are unforgiving but the rest of the course is generous. Get out and play!
Pace of play, bring a calendar
Course and price was ok, track is easy but it was windy. pace of play was 5 and a half hours , i didnt see a marshal and they dont seem to care about the pace. not a place to bring friends to, hackers heaven, would i play there again, never
Course is in shape but pace is terrible
I play there about once a month on Friday afternoons... Course is nice but very windy, coming back against the wind is pretty hard (good training).
Please do something about the pace of play! Marshal is not really doing his job.... Pretty annoying. Back 9 is always backed up... 10 min between each shot.. Terrible
Great course if you can doge the Gardeners
This was my first and most likely last visit to Peacock. There course is well manicured but it's because of gardeners who don't know the rules of play and are actually obnoxious. They we all over the fairways never caring what was going around around them. On 17 4 guys were standing in the front sand trap after the water with there car parked almost on the fringe of a par 3! They were asked to move kindly repeatedly even buy a lead guy near the box. They new we were upset and followed us to the green next to 18 and fired the engines till we were done teeing of !
The course pro did no seem to care funny if I let my car on the fringe on a par 3 I would be asked to leave!

Fun time
I haven't played in a long time so it was really nice to get out and play. The course is pretty nice. For the most part the holes run parallel so actually losing a ball is pretty tough to do.
I did the twilight rate and paid the price in having to deal with the wind. It got pretty gusty (25mph or so) and the way the holes are laid out, you are either into the wind or with the wind.
Staff was very nice. I had a 2:07 tee time and showed up about 1:50. They had already called for me and our group was time to go. I wasn't quite ready and had to rush getting things together. I should have checked to see how early to be so lesson learned.
Overall a good time, nice staff, and a decent course. I will be back for sure.
Smoothe round
The course was busy but everyone played a great pace of golf rarely left waiting at the tee box was very pleased with my experience
Nice public course
Poplar Creek is always in good shape. Several challenging holes keeps things interesting throughout the round. I always find the staff to be very customer focused and friendly.
poplar creek San Mateo 4/7/2014
luckily got it the day before aeration. fairways in pretty good shape. greens were descent. very slow round for a Monday. Having two drivable (for some) par 4s, groups had to wait till greens were cleared.no doubt contributing to slow play. overall a good course to regain confidence after a bad round elsewhere.
