Under construction…sad state of affairs...
It sure will be nice once the driving range is done, but I do have a big concern. The driving range is very very narrow, it seems there will be a lot of range balls on the fairways that are parallel to the range. I don't know why they didn't put the range by the 18th hole, there's more width there.
Anyhow, many fairways are torn up! Muddy and big bare spots with no grass at all. Sad.
Not Bad
This course has a typical layout a parallel fairways, but the mature trees gave it a unique feel. The fairways were in decent shape. I can't say the same for the greens. This course is better than most municipal courses. Easy course to walk so no excuse not to get a little exercise while you play.
poplar review
very solid course. my only problem is that the golfnow deal does not come with cart included. almost all 18 hole deals come with the cart included. the cart costs $28 for 18 hole. so on top of the green fee you need to pay an additional amount for the cart. not worth it, in my opinon. would be worth it if the price included the cart.
convenient.
for now it has a little issue, the project of having a driving range is a bit of a hassle.
Always nice round!
The course is in good shape, though holes 6&7 were under renovation the day we played. Over-all, a good course and a good value.
Overcharged
I was charged a cart rate even though cart was suppose to include
Driving Range
A driving range is being constructed, so two holes are are closed for safety reasons when workers are present. A phone call is recommended prior to booking.
Only 16 holes but unlimited play
Nice course. Wish I would have known about 2 hole closure. For a Thursday the Pace of play very slow; no marshals. Overall I like the play but a discounted price would be appropriate and appreciated.
Poplar creek
Currently in poor condition with only sixteen holes available. Have driving range
Under construction. Taking way too long to get finished. This is turning off many regular players like me
Getting better ...
Greens were as fast as I can remember, but a little soft and bumpy.
Course was still showing the effects of our recent deluge, with downed trees and mud on the ball after most shots.
Looking forward to the new driving range and having all 18 holes in play.
Not worth it
Extremely slow pace of play, more than 5 hrs!!! Never once saw a marshal to help speed up foursomes ahead. No consistency to greens. Longest time ever for a temp green, on #6. No one in pro shop to refund key deposit! ( is someone really going to steal a cart these days???)
Great place slow play
I like this course. Got a good deal on golf now. but the only problem with this course is slow play. No marshals going around speeding play up. There tee times are to close together and walking golfers slow down play
Very poor managed course!
The course is in very poor shape, very hard to get around and find the next hole. Payed for 18 and quite at 9. Really disappointed thought this was a nice course. Will not play there again.
Getting worse every time
The fairway is overly watered during the recent drought period, but the fairway was too dry during the non-drought period, which makes me clueless. The course condition is going downhill and getting worse every time I go. I wouldn't pick this course to hang out with friends and I come here only for practice.
5.5 hour round- So slow that several groups called it quits
Absurdly slow for a Thursday. 4 groups on a par 3 at one point. No Marshall to be seen. 5.5 hour round was the slowest of my life. NEVER AGAIN.......
Conditions
The course is in excellent condition especially the greens were smooth and nice green color. Had a great time playing with some nice people from Oregon. They were saying how much the greens condition was so good. Play it soon and you should too.
WAS OK
For the past 6 months or so this course has been making modifications to the course. Two holes have been changed by moving the tee boxes. They are adding a driving range, but it looks like the driving range will be less than 200 yds in length. They have an area to practice chipping and pitching, but they charge to use the area, ridiculous. The course was in OK condition due to reduced watering. The green on hole 6 is in terrible condition and all the greens were a bit spongy and slow. There is a shooting range not far from the course, so unfortunately there are times when you hear shot guns going off at random times.
tues play
so normally this course plays slow but on this particular Tuesday it was ridiculous, tee time at 1130 we got to the 13th at 3 p.m. Due to 30 minute waits.
the course plays slow but this day was ridiculous we had four groups on every hole from 8 to 14 ! We called the Marshall twice they tried to do with they could but there was no place to move people do to a women's tournament in the morning it just took forever we walked off....
gir
Definitely the best ball striking ever. Medium wind helping. All is well and course was just fine. Perimeter trees were not so much of an issue. Green fee was very good. Got a good deal.
Average course in the SF Peninsula
On date of play hole #2 was under construction and the t-deck had to be moved up which was a lot closer of the pond on the left hand side. Then hole #4 or 5 (can't remember exactly) was also under construction. Greens were well kept and given the drought, the fairways were in acceptable condition. Pace of play was a bit slower than preferred given the course layout is flat and easy to walk on.
